Today I installed the Battlefield Heroes beta (also installing flash plugin for internet explorer) on my computer and in the game options noticed it had weird choices for my desktop resolution-- going straight from 1280x1024 up to 1900x1200, when my monitor's native display is 1680x1050 which is what my desktop was set to.
After having the game crash, to my great dismay my desktop resolution was now set to 1280x1024, and in the desktop settings it was the same as in the game options, I couldn't get my resolution back. I uninstalled the game and rebooted. Now my motherboard posting is weird--my monitor goes into standby and I get no video until windows boots up, and it boots up fine but the resolution is still fucked.
I thought something has corrupted my video drivers, so I installed a new forceware driver 175.19 released a week or so ago hoping it would set things straight (Running a 7800GTX). On the reboot I still get no video until windows boots up and now I have more desktop resolution choices, but they're bad numbers like 1600x900, and 1768x922.
I have no idea what could have simultaneously fucked up the bootup and my desktop resolutions like this. Suggestions greatly appreciated.
edit: My computer now seems to think that 1920x1080 is my monitor's preferred resolution.
Edit: Looks like someone was monkeying around with the monitor settings and somehow go it into a different DVI mode. Turned it back and everything is okay.
