Around these forums, about once a month, someone will comment about how brilliant Marvel vs. Capcom 2 was on the Dreamcast. I still play it on my DC semi-regularly, and I've read a lot around here about people who do the same. There's discussions about picking it up for PS2, XBox...about how great it was, about how sad it is that it's gone...
So imagine my suprise when THIS was just slid into the middle of a Comic Con "Marvel: YOUR Universe" panel write-up at Newsarama.
Possibility of another Marvel vs. Capcom game (a question that excited the audience)? "Would it be possible one day? Yes. And maybe sooner than you think," teased Feige.
Kevin Feige needs to define 'sooner', because my god I've never been so excited.
Anyone have any more details on why the franchise stopped? Didn't Marvel sell everyone off to Activision? And now Iron Man, Cap and Hulk are at Sega...but still in Ultimate Alliance 2...so is it possible Marvel is finally just licensing out charecters for specific games, and allowing everyone to appear anywhere?
Next Gen Marvel vs. Capcom has potential to be my most anticipated title, if I can get a tad more info...

I think there is a chance of a MvC3.
I never asked for this!
Given that the original sprites were drawn for a game playing at the next-gen high resolution of 240p, I think they might need to redo them. Or go 3D.
In fact, that could be the subtitle.
I mean, MvC2 was great and all; I retain my copy to this day, but good lord the background music was terrible and there were barely any fucking stages.
edit: basically they should have just yanked stages from MvC, MvSF, XvSF, MSH, and COTA (and maybe a couple of SFAlpha games) and used them instead of the sort-of 3D crap they tried in MvC2. Talk about wasted potential.
EA dropped the rights after Marvel Nemesis sold like crap. As far as anyone knows, they're up in the air.

They can reuse the Street Fighter models from Capcom vs Tatsunoko because I think we all know that that one isn't leaving Japan outside of import sales.
Well, that's a relief. I'd thought they clung to them for some stupid reason.
X-Men vs. Madden '010: The New Age Of Shitty Games
or something.
Well, they already have an engine in place for Marvel vs. Tatsunoko, which is really the spiritual sucessor to this series.

A Venom/Cable/Blackheart team beating the hell out of a Cactus in a sombrero/Jill Valentine/Dhalsim team only can reach its full potential with smooth jazz piano in the background.
I'd love to see MvC3 done in the same cool 2D animation that SF4 is getting.
Edit - And no 3D. Stick to sprites, please. Redraw them. Only good things can come of this.
Maybe this is the same game, and they're replacing the Tatsunoko characters with Marvel characters for the American version?

I loved Marvel vs Capcom 2 and I really hope they make another one with even more characters
I want to be able to field a team of Viewtiful Joe, Dante, and Thor against someone's Namor, Phoenix Wright, and Dr. Strange
Also: un-nerf Megaman plz

Now that engine right there looks promising.
edit: wait, isn't that game using the SF4 engine?
Gigantic rosters are great in theory but the more characters they have the less balanced the game is.

The Vs. Capcom series has never been about game balance.
lime'd for AHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAHA
I could actually see this happening, although I'd rather have TvC coming out here. All the Tatsunoko characters they've shown could easily be exchanged for Marvel characters.

I honestly wouldn't doubt it. MvC2 isn't nearly the kind of staple in fighting games tournaments in Japan that it is in the States. That and they'll get two "different" games that sell well in two different regions with less development time. The only "losses" are the non-Japanese Tatsunoko fans and the Japanese Marvel fans and they'll make that relatively small sales group back with import sales.
You'll be lucky to get a MvsC3 at all.
No one will be happy or satisfied. Assuming the game is ever announced, it's going to be in 3D like Steet Fighter 4 and Capcom vs thatanimecompany, and everyone will bitch and cry and whine about how unfair it is even though, HEY, despite the odds, there's a new Marvel vs Capcom game.
I hate myself, because I'm right.
Yes.
But not the one that I care about.
Doesn't it? I've really fallen for the manga style shaders that they're using on those 3D models. I still enjoy really high quality sprite work (see KoF XII) but I'll take CvT's style as a close second.
If by Teknoman you mean Tekkaman the Space Knight then yes it was
Classic design too
I had an awesome VHS of that show back when I was little

They have a good look going with Capcom vs. Tatsunoko, seems like 3D would be a fantastic route to take.
Any game that has Wolverine, Spider-Man, Iron Man and Venom along side Marrow, Thanos, A Sentinel and fucking SHUMA GORATH is just beyond anything I could ever hope for. I dont care, as long as nothing is so unbalanced its broken, I'll take 300 charecters with a couple cheap ones thrown in over a small cast of perfect balance.
I never asked for this!
On top of that, Marvel vs. Tatsunoko has a great style for 3D. If a possible MvC3 is based on this art, I say go for it. Forget what I said earlier about sprites.
WHAT IS THIS
hopes and dreams, soon to be mercilessly crushed.
I don't care how unbalanced it is
I want my commercialized MUGEN, by God

Screw that man
Old school Tekkaman is way better

I hope they can localize it somehow
