    I know I hate the name too, i've had to live here all my life but next year I should be going to L.A.

    The place really isn't that bad but if you live anywhere this long it gets boring.

    I was sleeping when the quake hit.

    I was having a dream that I was pitching TV shows, and that it was going well. So when the apartment swayed and woke me up, my groggy first thought was "this a really weird way to market a show."

    Then I just let the shaking rock me back to sleep.

    also I was up pretty late last night/this morning, slept from about 8 something till 3 in the afternoon and didn't even realize we'd had an earthquake.

    Mind you, I live in Orange County, which was really close to the source. I mean, a friend of mine felt it all th way in Las Vegas and I'm over here sleeping through it. I'm a fucking log. 24.gif

    my mom was driving to get some lunch during the earth quake with some of her friends

    and she goes to park next to a van, but it's rocking all over the place

    and she's like "I don't know if we should park there, those people are really going at it it looks like."

    And she parks anyway

    and then she's like "Oh, shit, it's an earthquake!"

    So I just got home a little while ago, and a quick check of the place yielded only minor damage in the form of some water being sloshed out of my cat's water bowls. I am therefore clear to apply for aid from FEMA, maybe they can get me a couple of ShamWows or something. :P

    OK, apparently my fiancee who works in Santa Monica got the worst of it
    Her building rattled for about a minute and the power went out
    Meanwhile, at our apartment two miles away
    Nothing moved around
    Not even the precariously piled dishes in the dishrack

    Even tho I really want to go back to California...knowing I'll have to deal with earthquakes and firestorms again...ehh.
    I think the last earthquake I was in was when I lived in Chino Hills.
    That Big Bear quake that was like a 7.2. Man that scared the hell out of me.
