Soft food suggestions, or "why do we have wisdom teeth anyway?!"

Got a couple of wisdom teeth pulled today, and I'm looking for some ideas for soft foods. I already have the obvious soups, pudding, and ice cream, but I want some ideas for stuff that can be made at home. Those "recipe" things. ;-)
Smoothies. Fruit will add some sorely needed variety to your mushy diet, and there's all kinds of things you can add to them for new and interesting flavors (honey, yogurt, etc.).
Well you can make applesauce at home, but unsweetened applesauce is easier to get at the store.
Pastas qualify as soft foods, especially since any pasta that's left over will easily dissolve if it makes it into your sockets. Put a little butter and get your chew on.

Also maybe a few protein shakes. Itll be hard to eat most meats and you need the protein right now to help build up your red blood to heal your sockets.

You actually shouldn't drink things from a straw right after you've had your wisdom teeth removed because that can pull out your blood clot and give you a dry socket, which is incredibly painful.

Yea, but we have one of those crazy Magic Bullet things (Christmas gift), and I could always just drink from the cup. I know I also have to be careful of excessively hot foods, so I have to let anything I cook cool down before eating. I'm working on a noodle dish for tonight, but these ideas are great. Coyote, I'm not a big fan of corned beef hash, but you reminded me of my creamed tuna, so that'll be dinner tomorrow.
Thanks for the ideas, folks. I need to figure out how to make a few of them work in the microwave at work tomorrow. ;-)
Ravioli! Other than that... I got nothing. I was on soft food for the first day, but after that I was fine and munching away on everything in the normal fashion. Loved having an easy time with those wisdom teeth.
My boyfriend's dad has always joked about wanting to buy a McDonald's happy meal with a chocolate shake and just blending it all together. Maybe you could try it and report back to us?
That and pumpkin pie filling or the cheesecake filling in a can (yum yum) would be great desserts.

They cast a shadow like a sundial in the morning light. It was half past 10.
• 6 cups water
• 6 cups chicken stock
• 1/2 cup glutinous rice (short-grain rice, like arborio)
• 2 cups long grain rice
• 1-2 cup chicken meat, shredded
• 3 tablespoons fish sauce
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• Some chopped spring onion
• 2 tablespoons sliced mushrooms (optional)
Place rice and glutinous rice in a large pot with water and stock.
Bring to boil then lower heat, cover and simmer, stirring occasionally.
Cook until rice is very soft and mixture is thick. Roughly 45-60 minutes.
Add fish sauce, sugar, shredded chicken, mushrooms, spring onion.
Let it simmer an additional 5-10 minutes.
When served, add cracked pepper to your liking.

i ended up eating a lot of mashed potatoes when I had my wisdom's pulled, easy way to get some starch in. Also, crackers that dissolve easily (like bretons)

You could get crazy with some mac and cheese. Make one with goat cheese, spinich, kalamata olives, and garlic. Or perhaps one with mozzerella, roasted tomatoes, basil, and roasted garlic.
A great excuse to drink milkshakes as long as you avoid using a straw, like hachface said. If you are still bleeding cold things will help to clot the sockets. I'm impressed that you made this topic though. I was pretty whacked out on painkillers for most of the day when I got my wisdom teeth out.

The painkillers I was given are 600mg ibuprofen, so nothing major. Honestly, I didn't want much of anything. I hurt my back a couple years ago, and was given Vicodin... it didn't make my back hurt less, but it did make me pretty happy about the pain. :P
I ended up having some minestrone today for lunch... it was the soup at work. Grabbed a cup, left it in the freezer for 10 minutes to cool, and nom nom'ed down. I haven't been doing milkshakes, but the good fat free pudding has been a staple.
We're doing pasta for dinner tonight... I never thought of it as a soft food, but since it's been mentioned here, that's dinner! Not sure about tomorrow... going to depend on whether my mouth feels -any- better (hurts like hell tonight). Thanks again for the tips, guys.
When I had mine out, I got tired of pudding and ice cream real quick. I wanted something with substance, and an avocado saved my life. Best avocado I've ever had! Also, breakfast burritos are a lifesaver. Scrambled eggs and cheese in a soft tortilla.
Seconded on the rice porridge (and oat porridge is good as well). It's pretty easy to make (although I can never remember how to myself) and my mum used to cook it a lot after my brother had his braces done.
