Oh, ouch, combat is tough as a thief. I can beat Uhura in training but a bandit or scorpion destroys me. Probably should use a few training sessions solely for defensive skills.
Been a while since I played a Quest for Glory game, but try throwing daggers before you get into combat.
I suck at this game. I need a really simple guid that tells me how not to die.
Run from everything that isn't a brigand until your stats are decent.
How important is food and water, and how do I get them easily?
You can get free food from the inn where you started the game. Or there is a food seller in the center of town you can buy rations from for fairly cheap. For water just buy a couple canteens and fill them at the fountain in the center of the city.
NOTE: I have not played the VGA version. All this is from my memory of the original.
After beating the game 3 times without using any cheats I just started using the "Suck Blue Frog" debug codes to edit my money.
At the start of the game I used an import Character with high fighting skills. So I could go into the desert kill a few baddies and then buy the map before struggling to get to the money changer.
For those of you guys playing the classic games make sure you have the New Rising Sun Patches.
No. "Sell beard" wasn't like that. It just executed the "you have no beard to sell" method incorrectly and gave you money anyway. More of a bug than a cheat.
o_O I don't know what happened but the whole first part of my post disappeared. Anyways I think it's still in the game, not 100% sure though. I haven't tried installing yet. Lord I hope this games runs easily on Vista.
Has anybody bought and used the x-ray glasses yet? Is it :winky:.
It's just as risque as it is in the original I think. I bought them but haven't gotten that far yet. I've been training up my skills. I had forgotten how weak my QfG1 import wizard was.
I forgot to check back, but I saw QFG2 in someone's sig and realized this was released, oh man why is it on page 4?! I'm downloading, trying to decide if I want to play QFG1 first (if I can even find it!).

Same here.... I already own 2 copies of the anthology but damned if I can find them. I really want to play these in order again.
There is always the morally ambiguous way to get old games that aren't sold new anymore.
Buying them used. :P
I'm playing as a fighter and am at the fire thing. I will probably restart the game and do it properly. I didn't really explore the city to get all the info and stuff.

QFGII was definitely the best one I played. Wages of War was a super-easy letdown. I could never actually get past the intro in QFGIV because of all the bugs.

The fan patches have pretty much nailed down the bugs in IV. And it really is high point in the series.
That said, I really like the remake of II. The combat upgrades alone are phenomenal and the easter eggs really are neat too.

Fan Patches? I just located one of my anthology discs.
Care to point me in the right direction?
Is there anywhere that has a map of the alleys or something similar?
I'm getting horribly lost trying to get to the moneychanger, and it's rather annoying after the relatively simple and easilly remembered layouts of 1 and 4.

The download comes with the map. Check your files for FACS booklet.

THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE DUKE NUKEM! FOREVER ON THE HORIZON!

0 issues here.
And I played QFG1 in anticipation. By the end of it I had a wicked powerful hybrid thief/magic user to carry over to this.

On another note, Aziza's game just confuses me.
Maybe the "Nostalgic Halcyon Days of Adventure Gaming"tm niche isn't as large as I imagine/wish.

They are if you use dosbox. I don't know if you can get 5 to work with vista though.

It's a form of copy protection.
edit: Goddammit.
