My wii is collecting dust. I remember the last time I turned it on was for the wiiware update. Since then it has been my humble opinion that they have been releasing the disgusting drivel I have ever seen. Remember when they wanted to lead the third person party charge with Red steel?
I don't either, because the gas that fueled that desire to make their console an acutal gaming machine died along with whatever that lousy game had to offer. Metroid prime was on its last legs, and only showed that first person controls would work on the console. But honestly, who played metroid prime 3?
Nintendo needed to change its image to get the third parties on board because the system wasn't marketed to gamers. Instead of changing its image, nintendo continued its casual family fun image marketing the system to casuals and leaving the rest of its customers in the dust. Don't like wii fit? Neither do I. Don't like minigames? Neither do I. Want to buy another Nintedo console? Neither do I.
Don't get me started with buying the old games you already played.

Yay I can do it too! I love mad libs.
And oh hey, just because you don't see anything you like doesn't mean there's nothing good.
Fuck I own about 10 times more games for my Wii than my 360 because I can't find very much for the 360 I like.
So stop your bitching. Go back to Myspace and do it there.
Remember when they wanted to lead the third person party charge with Red steel?
I do remember when Nintendo wanted to lead the He, She, and They party. But they totally dropped the ball by not bringing chips. And then Omniscient First Person showed up, that asshole!
Initially I was going to buy a Wii on launch date, but wasn't able to because they were all sold out here
After that, the need kind of died down. And I'm glad I didn't buy it.
Because when I goto my local EB, I see the same old thing. Disney/kiddy throw away games covering the walls. Same goes for the DS Lite (which I own). There's an insane amount of potential here, but Nintendo is ok with just getting by on what it needs.
Man ... I have the opposite problem. I have too many awesome hardcore Wii games. I seriously don't have enough time to play them all.
I'm saying it sarcastically, and yet I haven't even found time to put Okami in for the first damned time. I'm about 2 levels into Zack & Wiki, RE:UC, Red Steel, Nights, and Metroid Prime 3.
Not as impressive, I also haven't found time to play Spyro and the something something (it was a gift) and Dewey's Adventure.

Yup, I went there
I agree with you about the Wii but comon now, there's a fucking TON of good games on the DS. They may not be games you like but I wouldn't call them kiddy or throwaway games. I'm not saying there isn't plenty of shovelware for the DS because there is but what I am saying is that there are a lot of really really good games for that little handheld and I think most people should be able to find something they enjoy.
If you don't like the Wii, don't play it. Don't buy one.
If you have one and you don't play it, sell it and use those monies to buy games you do like to play.
Both cases require no discussion because you've already made up your mind. What, do you want us to try to change your mind when it's obviously already made up?

Oh that's very true, but I don't use it as much as I would like even with the games I have. There's just a distinct lack of any kind of killer app or good multiplayer functionality (beyond ds to ds) that can keep me coming back
What. The fuck. Is so difficult about this.

Why is this so difficult?
Welcome to a discussion board, we like to discuss stuff.
How about we discuss the state of Nintendo console multiple years after their release where they are all but abandoned by good third party developers and once again must be carried by Mario/Zelda/Samus/Whatever
Look NH03, worst case is you can keep your Wii till the build up for xmas and then sell it for at least about 90% of what it's worth new and pick up a 360, which it seems would suit you better.
Lave, you seem the extra defensive one, how about making a case?
The guy does bring up a valid point
No he doesn't. He's talking like there are no good games on the Wii. Know what gamers buy? Good games. The fact that he doesn't like the third party titles that come out such as Boom Blox doesn't mean they don't exist.
If you really want to criticize Nintendo, talk about their implementation of online play. Now THAT is garbage.
Lave, you seem the extra defensive one, how about making a case?
The guy does bring up a valid point
I think it's the unnecessarily inflammatory thread title that does it, actually.
It's ridiculous to label all Nintendo consoles as filled with nothing but casual garbage, as the Wii (though casual-crap-heavy) still has plenty of awesome games, and the DS is possibly the best gaming device out there.
Does it need stronger third-party support? Absolutely, yes. Are there still plenty of good games out there? You bet, particularly with the quirkier developers.
Different strokes for different folks.

I've gone months upon months without using my 360 and then months using only it. Same with the Wii.
Hell, I borrowed a PS3 from a friend for Metal Gear thinking "Man, now I get to play all the great PS3 games without having to buy the system," which eventually came to being bored to tears of Ratchet and Clank and renting Uncharted and continually waiting for "the good part."
Not to say there isn't a game problem on the Wii, the library is certainly lacking. I'd love to see a lot of major releases, but Nintendo is always going to be Nintendo. They aren't bringing us Fatal Frame 4 in the US this year, lord knows what happened to Disaster (though it was recently rated by the OFLC), the only real Wii game for gamers is Wario Land and modern gamers seem to have a giant collective stick up their ass about paying for 2D games. And I'll show Nintendo that they satisfy my game tastes by, you know, buying which games I want and not buying the games I don't want (like Animal Crossing or Wii Music). Drop in the bucket, but whatever.
After Tales of Vesperia, there's not a single 360 exclusive that I want to buy. After Wario, I've got a few Wii games announced that I want. If being a multi-console owner has taught me anything, it's that there's periods where every system sucks it up like a hoover.
Lave, you seem the extra defensive one, how about making a case?
The guy does bring up a valid point
No ... he really doesn't. Half of "Nintendo's crap" as he puts it is actually "everybody but Nintendo's crap." If you want to know why the Wii 3rd party support hasn't been up to snuff with the other consoles, you have to ask the 3rd parties.
The Wii is a gaming machine, in as far as a hunk of hardware can be. But if Ubisoft, for example, is bringing out Assassin's Creed for the 360 and PS3 and then turn around and make Petz Dogz and The Price is Right for the Wii and call it equal, then you've got to call out Ubisoft on their bullshit, not Nintendo.
As for Nintendo ... yeah, they didn't have much for the hardcore at E3. But they already did a Zelda, Mario, Mario Kart, Mario Soccer, Mario Baseball, and Metroid Prime and we're only 1 1/2 years in. It took them 4 years to do that on the Gamecube. It's not unreasonable that they have a pause in their development cycle right now.

I'm not being defensive. Why should I try and convince him otherwise? He'ld be happier with a different console, so he should get one. And he's lucky enough to own the first console in history thats value has depreciated by almost nothing. The cheapest USED Wii being sold on amazon.co.uk is £10 less than the RRP. Thats in almost 2 years. He can sell it today, and have enough money to buy a 360 arcade.
(Shrug)
I'm happy with the Wii.
Some people get upset too easily.
Exactly. I havent felt compelled to get a wii yet. I'm not going to bitch about "Nintendo's crap." Other people seem to love the hell out of the thing, and that's great.
If you have one and don't feel it's worth owning, it's far and away the easiest console to sell so you can use the money on something you do want.
This smacks of someone just feeling like pissing in other peoples' cheerios.

I think a lot of people are just frustrated at the wasted potential here. We got the first fully motion sensitive console out on the market, affordable, and in a wide range of homes right now. But nothing exciting is being done with. Omitting the fact that they're just releasing 1:1 motion detection now (what is up with that?), the Wii should be the playground for some of the great developers. But that interest or support simply isn't there. Why? Is it the devs or Nintendo? I know Nintendo is known to be insanely annal about their dev kits and stuff, so could that be it?
I haven't really used my Wii much recently, but I don't really blame Nintendo or anything. They and I just don't seem to be jiving on stuff right now. If the pendulum swings back my way or something, I'll be all over it like white on rice. I don't feel betrayed or anything and I'm sure as hell not going to sell it, but I can kind of see where the original post guy is coming from. Only with less smoldering rage and finger pointing.

Well maybe we like to discuss why there's seemingly to be more people lately that find the Wii not that compelling and really getting less and less of a reason to play one?
for myself I feel the same way, especially with the lineup of games coming out, I will not sell my Wii because I do enjoy it but I barely play it especially compared to the 360 and PS3. but you don't have to act like an ass towards him for just voice his opinion.

A $250 paperweight that you can easily sell and use to buy more 360 games! Yay!
Why not just do that and not bitch?

the "no true scotch man" fallacy.
That's because I don't shake the console around in the air. All my electronics have dust on them.
Ah, now THIS is something I have to bitch at Nintendo for. Only now, as an add-on, are we getting what we were promised in 2006.
