Steam sound problem

I've just re-installed the game using my Steam version. And the sound is constantly stuttering? Anyone got any ideas why this is. I tried enabling Hardware sound but this made no difference.

edit: ive noticed it happens when i bring up options as i run the game...wierd

    Please send an email to support@hotheadgames.com, they will be able to help you there in more detail. Please submit with that what your sound card is and general system specs and OS.

    Found out the problem, it doesn't like the Steam Overlay. Odd that. I loaded up my non-steam version and it ran fine.
