OK, I've been involved in politics in PA for a decade but I was still shocked by the media love-fest at McCain's Ranch. I knew things were different in DC but this is like finding out your sister in the big city who seems to date a lot is actually a streetwalker. In response I hereby coin the term "Swinging on the Tire" to describe a reporter who has gotten way too cozy with a politician and has had their supposed objectivity affected.

Please feel free to use this term or even making it into an award like one of Sullivan's.

I think we are beginning to see some reporters start to question McCain's statements and perhaps more importantly, they are starting to question if the John McCain they knew and adored was the real John McCain. They've given him a pass on just about everything up until now but I think you will slowly start to see that change. Once the truth starts to come out, I think the polls will swing back to Obama

So are Mccain and Biden ever going to have a chance to debate each other or something similar? Because man, if there was one dude who could get Mccain to blow his stack it'd have to be Biden. I mean, just from watching his stuff on Guiliani he can be just brutal.

"Joe Biden is the right partner for Barack Obama. His many years of distinguished service to America, his seasoned judgment and his vast experience in foreign policy and national security will match up well with the unique challenges of the 21st Century. An Obama-Biden ticket is a very impressive and strong team. Biden's selection is good news for Obama and America."

    EDIT:
"In naming my colleague and friend Senator Joe Biden to be the Vice Presidential nominee, Senator Obama has continued in the best traditions for the Vice Presidency by selecting an exceptionally strong, experienced leader and devoted public servant. Senator Biden will be a purposeful and dynamic Vice President who will help Senator Obama both win the Presidency and govern this great country."

I meant in the context of likeliness. Having the SS around is a pretty good block against an assassination, but how exactly are you gonna prevent a guy, whose old age is already rendering him more and more vulnerable to disease, from getting Alzheimer's or other diseases that don't have cures?

You keep telling yourself that right up until November, but I guarantee you that here in the real world, Joe Biden will not be doing anything between now and then other than making certain that John McCain does not win the presidency.

Well considering his ability to get the Democratic Nomination color me unimpressed.

Obama's problem has been that he can't come right out and call BS on things because he's "That nice guy with good ideas."

Biden can just outright call people on things because he's "That guy who's kind of an asshole but also completely right."

    This is a good combination.

Appointing a hedge fund manager shows you understand the economy or shows you understand how to fuck over the little guy? One ad about Romney shipping jobs overseas and Michigan solidifies against McCain and Ohio tightens enormously.

Yeah, but he wasn't "directly" responsible for it while running a corporation. Dick Devos ran for Governor here in 2006 and the ads Granholm used showing he shipped jobs overseas as the CEO of Amway absolutely destroyed him.
