American Presidency: It's a beautiful day - Obama & Biden together at last
A democratic America top to bottom would be horrible. Balance please.
Unless she wasn't speaking of the party, that is.
No, a Democratic America top to bottom would be ideal. Republican ideology is almost completely abhorrent.
This coming from the guy in a single party state right now. And if you think Democrats wouldn't be as bad or corrupt as those officials over there, come to Illinois.
I'm not suggesting one-party rule. I'm talking about getting rid of Republicans. Dems and, I dunno, Greens or libertarians would be great. I'm reasonably confident that general unhappiness with government in general would spawn a second powerful party.
I don't see how Republicans are at all good for the country though, and the "balance please" notion is... it's like saying you need to have Democrats balanced by corrupt and crazy.

it went something along the lines of "soon the republicans will meet in the twin cities with bush to nominate john mccain, which is appropriate, because it seems like you can barely tell them apart"

Now there are Zim-Bear hybrids
Running around and clawing eyelids
Watch out, a Zim-Bear is about to have sex with yooooooou!

I think "were you in it just for me" was a bit of a misstep. Undoubtedly, many of her supporters were! Indeed the very people she needs to convince are those who believe in Hillary and have serious problems with Barack Obama. They don't need to be convinced Democrats are awesome, they need to be convinced Barack is awesome. That said, she'd doing the damn thing! It's a very minor, minor criticism.
It's called tough love. They'll pout and cry, but in the end, they'll check the box with the D.
Eh, I genuinely feel a lot of them won't. I think many of the rank and file PUMAs are just damn ignorant; and the smarter ones--the feminist bloggers and such--have genuine ideological problems with Barack. They'll vote for Cynthia McKinney, or stay home, or write in Hillary, or whatever. I think very few of that class will vote McCain, but very few will also vote Barack.
My one criticism of Hillary at the moment: she doesn't leave the crowd enough time to cheer, and jeer, and boo, and laugh, and respond to her rhetoric. Maybe it's just me, but I feel like she was a tad rushed; plunging through the audience reaction to get the damn thing over with. She was enthusiastic as fuck, she owned the hell out of the speech, but oratorically, she's no Barack.

I guess it depends on the Republican. They don't have to be Pat Robertson's ilk, and we'll see how they come out of this ideological crucible in the next decade.

You're saying this as if Democrats aren't corruptable as well. Come to Illinois, come to Chicago.

"It's no surprise that George Bush and John McCain are meeting in the Twin Cities next week..."
something like that.
The RNC is in the Twin Cities.
Bush and McCain are twins.
Coincidence?

No way am I missing Barr on Colbert though.
