Also, Michelle Obama could afford to smile a bit more. She has this lips-pursed 'not-amused' look a lot of the time.

Jesus Christ, cut her some slack. There was every chance that Clinton would have set them up the bomb; at that point Michelle would have to leap into action and cut a bitch.

There's also every possibility that Clinton was going to start some shit, but then saw the look on Michelle's face and decided to go with "Speech B," which is what we just heard.

So... seriously. Lay off Michelle's scowl.

ABC gave good coverage. They pointed out than Mechille cried through the whole speech. Also that no one else gave that much to the winner by far. “Obama owes her a debt of gratitude.”

And that she had done them the favor of defining what this whole messageless convention should be all about.
tl;dr: The HillaryIs44 spin is apparently to fawn over Hillary so much that they miss the point of her speech completely.

Most of us are Hillary supporters. I for one am thrilled at the prospect of her kicking ass as Senate Majority Leader. It's just that Obama happens to be our once-in-a-generation leader, and we're not going to turn away our Kennedy or Roosevelt or Lincoln just because Clinton "earned it." She's going to go on to have a long and illustrious career as a legislator, and when we do inevitably have a woman elected president she will owe a lot to the work that Clinton did in this race.

I mean, I love my best friend, but if I had to choose between hanging out with him or spending a weekend playing D&D and Wii Tennis with Stephen Colbert, it wouldn't exactly be a tough decision.
