    You know, I've never lost a hard drive. And my DVR box has the same hard drive it had when I bought it eight years ago. I mean, I back up my important stuff anyway, but it seems like most people have a lot more trouble than I do on that score.

    When I was 16, the internet wasn't really around much yet so I had a stash of magazines. My appendix failed and I spent a couple days in the hospital. When I got home my room was all cleaned up and my magazines were gone and my parents never said a thing about it.

    Firewire is relevant in the video world.

    The only device I have ever known to use a firewire cable was a mini dv consumer camera I had from highschool about 3 years ago. The cable itself cost fucking $30. =/

    I use firewire devices every day. Professional cameras, decks and capture interfaces all use firewire.

    My Canon XL1 camcorder uses Firewire. Which is really annoying because my PC doesn't.

    My external HD is firewrie. I can boot a PPC Mac using a partition set aside for OS X using firewire, but not USB 2.0. That's pretty convenient.
