Okay so I have an 1080 32HD. The 360 looks great, but trying to play ps2 games on there kind've sucks. Playing standard dvd movies on the 360 looks pretty good, but the ps2 looks like garbage. Whats the best way to make them look as good as possible (Yeah yeah I know ps2 not known for graphics, but still I'd like to play God of War or Okami and not think I'm looking at it through a gauze filter).
So any suggestions, on PS3 (which I have yet to own) or set it widescreen, don't set it widescreen, whatever it is that makes it look the least shitty, let me know.
Thanks

hey by then i might not feel so shitty about buying a ps3
Okami still looks like shit, even on the PS3. The smoothing seems to make it look worse.
I'll echo the earlier comments - an older TV, with s-video or (if available) component connection.

Even fixes the frame rate problems on SotC.
That's all you can do.
Don't get an old SDTV, though, that's retarded. I mean, it's not going to look any worse on your good TV, seriously.
This.
My PS2 games look like Youtube videos on a big widescreen TV, but still look alright on the 27" CRT that I bought ages ago along with my first DVD player.
Cocksuckers.
Buy the component cables and hope your games are 480p-capable.

This suggestion is quite sound, but I do strongly object to the way it's put.
PS2 games look great on HDTVs that aren't cutting corners, for instance a 1080i tube, or one with a proper scaler box/internal scaler.
LCD TVs basically crap all over SD because most people aren't going to care, and so the manufacturers don't either. It cuts costs and also helps sell Joe & Jane Shmoe on HD when SD looks like utter garbage. Since LCDs can't change from their native resolution, they have to scale the lower-resolution images up. Since the only ways to do this properly are hundreds-of-dollars expensive, they don't; it gets done as cheaply as possible. This creates the video artifacts and image latency which make it look worse than it really is.
A backward-compatible model of PS3 does a good job upconverting, but costs even more than a good upscaler. If you're eager to spend hundreds of dollars, PS3's probably a better overall buy for gaming and media utility. Very few LCD HDTVs were built with good upscaling. These are typically older & expensive models, since expensive, less-demanded features are naturally the first to go in the process of streamlining production.
I'd like to offer a different take: People want slim-factor LCD HDTVs now, and don't want to haul their old TVs to the dump. They're selling their high-quality tubes (sometimes 720p or 1080i HD-capable) CHEAP in local newspaper and craigslist ads. It's possible to pick up a great SDTV for $200 or so, just do it quickly before everyone finishes offloading their old televisions.
Anyway, welcome to consumer minority hell. Do enjoy your stay.

Also is there still anyway to get PS3s with the Emotion Engine aside from used consoles?

I mean I don't have a huge problem just wanted to play them having them look the best.
He's talking about the true hardware emulation PS3s - the 20GB/60GB models, I believe. (I've got that right, right? Original had the full EE+GS, 80GB emulates the EE but still has hardware GS?)
No way to get them without buying used, and I think it does the same upscaling method.
