No because season 4 isn't massively based around the season 3 finale.
Like the entire episode was
RITA WAS DEAD, RITA WAS DEAD.
Now i'm spoiling that cause I'm polite but really statue of limitations buddy. They are hardly going to get people watching the show if they don't actually talk about it.
Statute of limitations? That was a fairly narrow window if you are marketing the dvd to non-subscribers (maybe they aren't!). The issue could have been avoided by removing a split second from the tv promo. You probably disagree, but it was a bummer for someone who actively avoided spoilers.
Anyhow, I've caught up and noticed something from the end of season 4/beginning season 5. Maybe it has been covered:
There was blood all over the floor outside of Rita's bathtub. They emphasized Arthur's meticulousness early in season 4. Maybe Arthur was in a rush plus the added effect of having Dexter's son be "born in blood." Unless Elliot killed her copycat style out of jealousy.
eh i think that was just for effect and isn't going to be brought up
yeah, they seemed to imply that was about to happen and then cut away without it going any further
I'm assuming the editors gives a shit about LaGuerta as much as we do and forgot what was supposed to happen and just went on with the rest of the episode
I would guess that she probably didn't until the show proves otherwise because Angel was standing there and I don't remember the blinds on her office closing or anything telling like that

Wait which scene?
Also did you guys hear the doctors talking about how Dexter's been in the Emergency Room so much in the past few months.

What spring does with the cherry trees.
The fact that IA is talking to LaGuerta and not Batista. Like they are keeping an eye on her because she's banging all the cops in the precinct and everyone talks that she's good at blowjobs because everyone has gotten one.
I doubt it'll impact the main storyline, but still interesting to think about.
Also VI, what scene with the doctors are YOU talking about?

When Boyd is escaping the hospital the doctors behind him are talking about that.
Also oh I remember the scene now.

So last weeks episode was probably the weakest so far of the season but still not bad. Tonights episode should be interesting if the preview is to be judged.
And you also, at least I did, sort of rooted for Doakes.
I mean, the best part of his character and his interaction in the show is that (spoilers I guess)
He is the protagonist. He is a straight arrow cop who does the right thing. He knows that there is something wrong with Dexter, which is right, and he knows that it's something horrible. He's crotchety, but he's not a bully to anyone other than the guy he suspects is some sort of criminal. Whereas Quinn is an annoying whiteboy who is on the take and just has this hunch and wants leverage against someone who knows that he's dirty.

Yeah see this is the thing about the show.
The people that hunt dexter in the show, are the good guys, Rita is a good guy. I mean she is just trying to get by and live a normal life and make Dexter live a normal life, because she thinks he is normal. She (and Dexter's cover) are his greatest foils. But people just dump on her! She's a good character, she forces Dexter to do interesting things!
the final crime scene seems really messy in terms of evidence. Guy get shot in a warehouse hundreds of feet from where he is found dead, zip-tied to some equipment. Saranwrap guy has no gun shot residue on him, probably has glass cuts and fibers from dexter's car on him, DM99 will still show up in his blood. Both lever temperatures will be right around 98.6 degrees. Lumens fingerprints everywhere.
I don't get why dexter didn't just kill saran wrap guy earlier, or redose him? I know he has a ritual but he has had to improvise before and it's not like cleaning up a non prepped (no kill room) murder was going to be quick even if lumen had done a better job of making sure the guy was actually dead.

I agree that it was sloppy as fuck, but it was two perverts who apparently murdered each other so the dept isn't going to devote a ton of resources to it and how likely is it the families would want a huge investigation when they hear the circumstances. Pretty sure the show just wanted to end with Matsuka(sp?) being awesome in his element.

Uhhh, Doakes is not a straight arrow cop who 'does the right thing'. Do we really have to spoiler season 1 and 2 stuff? Well anyways...
Doakes straight up shoots a guy from his past. The other guy had a gun, yeah, but Doakes said the other guy shot first, which Dexter shows is a lie. The show doesn't really get into this much, but it definitely raises some questions about Doakes. I think there's other hints but I can't remember. He was definitely not a bad guy, and I loved him, he was awesome, but he wasn't 'just a good guy'.
Dammit I hate having to wait for dvds. I can't justify subscribing to showtime though.
I'm liking it a lot so far, though I thought Season 4 mostly sucked, so
Wha-?
I thought the performances of Lithgow and Carpenter were its only bright spots, doing their best to salvage an incredibly badly-written and -executed story arc. But hey, at least it wasn't as bad as Season 3.

But yeah, they keep bringing him up so it makes me wonder.

Doesn't mean the writers can't retcon it for the "what a tweest!" reaction, but it would be pretty damn retarded if somebody besides Trinity did it.

That scene must go down in history as the best way to relieve tension/stress to the viewer via comedy in the Dexter universe.
