A bit rough, but endearing. Really would like to see the batman painting fleshed out a bit cleaner and more defined, but the (awesome) point got across. And I lol'ed at the comic.
I chuckled at "the girl across from me has cool hair"
although with the frames before it, it looks like you're sitting there leering over the edge of your book, staring at this girl.
I do em' through the day at the end of the hour, more or less. The last panel there I did way after class ended so I couldn't remember what happened.
so yeah make hourly comics. it makes you realize more stuff is happening
Ok I think I'm going to get some mixed reaction on this next thing.
With this I was supposed to do something in the spirit of Klaus Oldenburg's art manifesto 'I am for an art'.
I'm calling it 'Pop':
It sucks talking about my own 'fine art' because I'll either come off as pretentious or cheapen the thing. But basically the idea was to make something representative of the entire pop art movement. Soda cans are pretty iconic without having to use logos and so I'm using them to represent commercial art in general and they're exploding with this uh 'inspiration juice' if you will for pop artists. And there's also other stuff I was thinking about like warhol considering his studio to be a factory and I had it all droopy kinda like oldenburg's stuff.
I think I'll probably sneak this into a sculpture garden or maybe leave it outside the autoshop where I got the stack of cardboard I made it with. To be looked at or destroyed like Oldenburg's subjects

I never really "got" this kind of art, so me commenting on it would be rather futile. I just don't know where the struggle is in it, it all seems so random.
I'm sure you could sell it at some New York art show and make thousands.
Also kinda random, but what kind of shading method do you do? The way you lay down values astounds me, and it'd be nice to get a peek on how this process of yours goes down via example.
I applaud the kind of work that went into the project, but I think the biggest problem is that it looks like it's a prototype. The elements are there, but they need to be applied more concretely. The paint feels a bit scattered, especially since it looks like you went to each spot once. It may be far more effective to go through the piece with a procedure a handful of times. Layer the paint and make it look like those cans have been churning out for some time. Looks like you have some craft issues and unplanned support failure. Also, "Pop Shaves", "Pop Slaves", "Pop Staves"?
well it's tough because it's supposed to look like trash. And the support issue is intentional. I mean i could have easily added a support. you are probably right about the paint being scattered and not enough coming out of the cans
art to your everyman not familiar with the philosophy behind what's in front of them, most of the time I think make a qualitative judgment based entirely on how skill comes across traditionally.Me too. And whenever that's not a component-- even purposefully-- they just dismiss it
And maybe that's the way it should be.
Part of what makes the work of these nontraditional artists so romantic is this battle to convey an idea or through a philophy something totally impractical and maybe impossible to do in art. I just think it makes it a bit more meaningful
but wutevah
shading method- uh. I don't know really. Usually in sketching I lay down lines really close to each other, but there's not much hatching. maybe I'll make a video some day
Ha, that's the kind of response that I expected to hear. But now that I look at it, you really don't crosshatch; methinks it's a combination of lines and strong control over tone spectrum.

more batman paintings please.
you are awesome
so is batman, so you+batman
oh god
ok here is picasso-style self-portrait
and this thing
and also sketches
And looking at the others in your other post, that is amazing.
The preportions seem great and the way the pictures are laid out is very well balanced
And that comic cracked me up!
last week--
and yesterday-
EDIT: a little bigger
Too bad I could only read about half of it.
although with the frames before it, it looks like you're sitting there leering over the edge of your book, staring at this girl.

I didn't think I was going to share them when I was drawing em

I'm excited, as usual, to see more of your work.

So basically it's a lot of practice then.
