I played around with the Monkey Island code wheel so often. You can get some pretty hilarious faces.

If I remember correctly, this was used about 10 years ago for the expensive production software suites. Like Adobe and Maya, etc.

I thank goodness I never had to deal with a code wheel. The Page/Paragraph/Word system was annoying enough.

I'm wondering, would photocopying or photographing a code wheel be considered illegal under the DMCA's DRM anti-circumvention clause? I believe so.

I mention this because, someone posted an image of a code wheel in the previous comic thread. There are all sorts of ridiculous legal ramifications now for something so simple. If any of you remember the whole AACS encryption key controversy, we've reached a certain level of absurdity with copyright laws. At this point a 32 character number is questionably illegal.

It's the first few seconds of the intro to Azumanga Daioh, which is one of the few anime series actually worth watching.

I'd have changed it years ago but people flip out whenever I do that.

While that is dumb, I would fully support the incarceration of anyone involved with the password system used in many NES and SNES games, because they fucking ruined my childhood.

I've dealt with dongles for print shop software (we're talking thousands of dollars for a single workstation license), and some custom sewing machine PC software. Also Mitchell on Demand automotive repair software.

Dongles are still around today. For some reason they seem to mostly show up in PC software for industries that aren't traditionally PC oriented.

Just go to the third stage and stay there forever and if you're done there maybe play for a bit and then quit.
