KotOR MMO Announcement Announced?
Posts
Then the dirty old man touched it in its private square and it's never been the same.
As long as SOE don't get a hold on this one I have high hopes.
I'd still prefer just KOTOR 3
Written by Chris Avellone.
It was slipped out by a CEO by mistake, so yeah it was confirmed a bit ago but not officially announced
And I mean, it solves the Jedi balance problem.
Everybody and their dog was a jedi back then.*
If they do it right it could be like outcast multiplayer but as an rpg and with no stupid shit like DFA.

Teacher: "Why isn't your homework done?"
Student: "I'm sorry sir my dog turned to the Dark Side."
Teacher: "Oh I see, what a shame, that's alright then."
I've only just started and the battle system is pretty fun. I can't wait to sink more hours into this nonsense!
Set it before that.
It just says Knights of the Old Republic.
Not, Knights of the Old Republic at the same time as our prevoius KotOR game.
Imagine if this is set during that Sith war that is well before kotor 1 with thousands of Sith versus the jedi.
Jade empire is one of those vastly underappreciated games that more people need to play. It was amazing, everything I could ask for a western RPG in an eastern setting.
It actually doesn't even say that.
Apparently, Lucasfilm recently trademarked Star Wars: The Old Republic and variants on that.
I'm not even truly through the tutorial, but the depth of the world they created is pretty impressive so far. At least conceptually.
And the fighting system seems to be really really good so far, I'm trying to focus on magic stuff, bu I'm not even sure what that means in the context of the fighting system. Right now I am just kicking ghosts in the face.
Really?
That's even better. The old republic went on for like thousands of years. Plenty of scope.
Jawas?
Something like 25,000 years, so yes there is amazing amounts of potential placement for a good story somewhere in there.
The skill system from SWG was unique and interesting.
Then they shat on it instead of fixing all the broken stuff around it.
I don't think I'll ever really understand why they thought that was a good idea, other than as a classic case of developer completely losing confidence in their own ideas.
LucasFILM?! Dear god if Lucasfilm trademarked Old Republic then my dreams of a Kotor movie might come true! Oh man!
Also this will be better then SWG because SOE will never be involved with it after Lucasarts got pissed at them for fucking over SWG.
I never asked for this!
I never asked for this!
He's a pretty reasonable guy about it all really.
I want to see Exar Kun.
I never asked for this!
Why not both. Not at the same time obviously.
Because the last 4 Star Wars movies have been so good.
Maybe if Lucas butted out and let Avellone write it.
Don't forget Lucas' atrocity that was indiana jones 4 >.<

To be a Rodian bounty hunter.
Don't give me any of this Jedi/Sith shit, hand me a crappy blaster pistol and point me in the direction of someone who will probably shoot first.
Revan wasn't really retconned, just shoved in the back for KOTOR 3.
Which we still better be getting.
Don't start.
IJ4 was classic indiana jones, classic to the genre, and against what you all remembered it as.
I recently watched the IJ films before going to see 4 and it was fantastic because I wasn't going on distorted nostalgia.
I liked ep 3 and most of the actual jedi stuff in 1 and 2 that didn't involve Hayden trying to portray emotion.
It was like watching a robot swap happy sad smiley faces in a caricature of human expression.
And you know Jar Jar. Although my gf likes Jar Jar. We have a fundamental disconnect there. If he wasn't in 1 I would have loved that film so much.
I feel this is a good time to remember something.
I picked up this horrible, horrible, manganized book of Episode 1.
Everybody had these giant anime eyes and ugh god.
Except, Quigon was exactly the same. You can't actually caricature Liam Neeson, he already is.
It was very droll.
Really need to play this extended version of KotOR 2 that you guys played, because I really didn't notice too many of these awesome changes in the original.
Nooooooooo!
*sounds of metal being twisted and shorn*
I swore off MMOs after getting lost in WoW for a year. If this is a legitimate sequel to KotOR 2 (one of my favorite RPGs ever) then I might have to break my promise. My only hope is that there's going to be a KotOR 3 and I won't have to give up all my friends again.
And I thought I was doing such a good job staying away from WAR.
Ya this, as I recall, you didn't see too much of dear old Revan. Something about exploring lost space?

Read it right the fuck now.
Trust me, you'll be glad you did.
2 and 3 could have been redeemable in my opinion if hayden wasn't such a god-awful actor. Lucas' writing was bad, but the mixture of bad writing and bad acting sent it over the top.
On indiana jones, I didn't see the first three until the week before 4's release, so it wasn't any nostalgia that was clouding my opinion =P
It's just that I couldn't take the movie seriously. Sure indiana jones has always been a little campy, but hiding in a fridge to survive a nuclear explosion, swinging on vines like tarzan with monkeys that have the same ridiculous hairstyle as the character, and...
I didn't think that last twist fit at all as the first 3 movies all centered around the occult. It just didn't feel like indiana jones to me.

I never asked for this!
Shit, I missed a lot, looks like it's time to dig this series out again.
Either way, I found the part about Revan so I'll skip to that one.
*Edit: Oh yeah...Revan knew some shit was about to go down so he was trying to amass a fleet large enough to defend against it.
Agreed, an excellent LP.
About KOTOR 2, as a whole I thought I didn't enjoy it as much as KOTOR 1, but I thought it was a much better game. Maybe it's because I have a huge hard-on for Chris Avellone, and there is so much potential for KOTOR 3 to be great. I seriously hope Obsidian makes it eventually.
