A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away ...
STAR WARS
KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC
Four thousand years before
the rise of the Galactic
Empire, the Republic verges
on collapse. DARTH MALAK,
last surviving apprentice of
the Dark Lord Revan, has
unleashed an invincible
Sith armada upon an
unsuspecting galaxy.
Crushing all resistance,
Malak's war of conquest
has left the Jedi Order
scattered and vulnerable
as countless Knights fall in
battle, and many more
swear allegiance to the new
Sith Master.
In the skies obove the Outer
Rim world of Taris, a Jedi
battle fleet engages the
forces of Darth Malak in a
desperate effort to halt the
Sith's galactic domination....
And so it begins. Nameless grunt a.k.a. You, get to pick from a handful of classes and use your guile, gut, or thick head to bring down Malak and bring peace to/take over the galaxy.
You also get a sweet ship, the Ebon Hawk, in which all of your cronies hang out.
Cronies like this fool.
I hear she's got, like, some kind of mind powers or something.
Let's not forget everyone's favorite cantankerous, wrinkled ass.
And not last, and certainly not least, this hunk of junk.
Whether you like Star Wars or not, this game is one of the best RPGs ever made. Deep characters, a neat alignment system, tremendous plot, and fresh setting made for one helluva time. Not to mention the plot twist to end all plot twists.
It also has a sequel, which is fan-fucking-tastic except for a few "minor" blemishes.
And for those of you who want to play, but the thought of 1024 x 768 makes you cry, hit this up.
KotOR Resolution Mod. Or, in the case of KotOR II,
this.
tl;dr I'm replaying this game for the first time in 5 years and having an awesome time. We should talk about it.

I was thinking the same thing...
I hated how long it took before you got jedilicious and also how much content i had to go through without HK. Other than that fantastic, bought it twice.
I DO NOT TRUST YOU
I CANNOT TRUST YOU OR ANYONE EVER AGAIN
Then I remembered it took me 40+ hours the first time. And remembered it took a ridiculous amount of time before you even get off the first space station.
I just don't have the will to invest that kind of time again.
I will note however that the alignment system was not revolutionary four years ago
Way to not be hardcore at all.
I did many a level 2 scoundrel runs.
Does anyone ever do anything with Juhani?
Meh...why would I use Juhani when I had Bastila and Jolee(people I didn't hate)?
Never killed her though...but I was a light-side chickenwuss who always settled things through communication and sometimes lightsabers.
The plot was outstanding though, probably the only games that compare have come from the same company.
Is this a discussion on the first KOTOR or the entire series?
I have to admit, going scoundrel->consular and upping persuade has been fun. The combat isn't the high point of the game for me, so alternative methods are enjoyable.
We might as well do both.
Y'all remember that Onion article that went something to the effect of "US Department of Retro warns: we are running out of past". Pretty much sums it up. You can't be nostalgic for 4 years ago! :x
Kotor is a pretty damn good game, though.
Is it worth doing the missions for the GenoHaradan? I've done a few of them on Manaan, but going back and forth between planets isn't entirely appealing.
Also, she had a red lightsaber which I really wanted.
As for the game, I bought this and an Xbox with my first tax return ever, and it died as soon as I finished the game. It knew it had served its purpose well.
I really like the one about the guy with the amazing destiny and breath like a bantha

That sound byte is gold and needs to be posted.
Hopefully with some Linkin Park playing in the background.
Combat was kinda meh, though, and the graphics suffered from that special Star Wars blandess.
Guess that couldn't be helped, though.
The story in Kotor II is actually a lot more subtle then in Kotor I, too bad that rushjobs made it a bit non-transparent and easy to miss. It's one of the wordiest games out there too. But gameplaywise II > I, and character wise too. There's an excellent SA Let's Play of Kotor II for those with no time/monies btw.
Edit: Because it must be posted.
All right, people. It is not a gerbil. It is not a hamster. It is not a guinea pig. It is a death rabbit. Death. Rabbit. Say it with me, now.
Poor KOTOR1 has not held up well at all.

1. One of the better plot twists in a game, but I kinda saw it coming.
2. HK-47 is awesome. Also, by the time you get him, you can pretty much have all his upgrades if your Repair is around 15-ish, making him a powerhouse early on. (Tatooine was the first planet I visited both runs.)
3. Light Side powers are for wussies.
4. Both endings are a bit lackluster.
5. Bastila is totally hot.
In the end, I really enjoyed this game; it's pretty rare for me to to back to back runs of anything. Went Scout/Sentinal both times, because Repair and Computers are too awesome. I made the mistake of going Heavy Armor both times before learning that the Force Powers I wanted are locked to Jedi Armor (lame).
So, is KotOR 2 worth picking up?
BUY IT NOW BUY IT AGAIN
BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT
WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.
SERIOUSLY BUY IT HOW COULD YOU NOT HAVE PLAYED IT
Yes, I would like a 14-20 crit range, please!
Was it also in 2 that you can pull off an insane number of attacks in a round with Master Speed and Master Flurry/Rapid Shot?
I remember abusing the dragon glitch...went from level 21 to level 40...pretty much took all the difficulty out of the game. But I was the baddest Jedi in the galaxy so it was worth it(also using force lightning at full lightside and not caring about the penalty was fun).
Replaying this series has me fallen in love with Star Wars again.
Yeah, I went there. Wanna fight about it?
