Zack and Miri Make a Porno

I'm surprised there's no thread for this anywhere here.
Oh, and the poster that wasn't allowed to run in the states:
Plot Synopsis (from wiki)
Lifelong friends and roommates Zack (Seth Rogen) and Miri (Elizabeth Banks) are facing hard times and a mountain of debt. When the electricity and plumbing get cut off, they seize upon the idea of making a homegrown porno movie (Star Whores) for some quick cash, enlisting the help of their friends. The two vow that having sex will not ruin their friendship. But as filming begins, what started out as a business proposition between friends turns into something much more.
Saw it the other night, and laughed my ass off. It's super funny, and pretty much solidifies that Smith can do a funny movie without Jay and Silent Bob.
We're going to see it in about 30 minutes - I'm really excited. I love Kevin Smith flicks but they have a tendancy to disappear from the theaters too quickly and I miss them.

Just saw this last night with a few friends. I thoroughly enjoyed it. God, the part when
Stacey, er, de-constipates herself. I don't think I've ever laughed and gagged like that at the same time.
From what I understand, that was the shot that almost got the film a NC-17 rating, that they thankfully they appealed down to an R without cutting it. And thank god, because it was probably the funniest single thing that happened.
The fleshlight conversation? Fantastic. But everything after the spoiler'd point? It was just... worse.
And the ending was just far too fucking easy and abrupt.
I agree about the ending, but really, I wasn't expecting too much out of it. And I thought they did a decent job mixing in Zack and Miri's relationship with the rest of the movie, although sometimes it was a little heavy-handed.
It was great - although yes, the ending was a bit abrupt and predictable.
As to how it stacks up against other Kevin Smith flicks - I can say we laughed more during Clerks II at the theater but still had a fun time. I can never tell which of his movies I'll end up liking the most until I've watched the DVD a crapload of times - but I'd say I'll end up putting this one somewhere in the middle. The supporting cast was really good as well.

looking forward to this. Gotta try to see it this week as I'm going to a Jersey Q&A Smith is doing on Friday and I want to know what the fuck everyone is talking about.
The guy who plays Darrel on the office was awesome in this (incidentally, he's been awesome in pretty much all his roles I've seen him in. He seems to be getting a heckuva lot of them too lately). Great supporting cast and pretty hilarious overall.
Gotta say I laughed more at Clerks 2 though (can't beat the pillowpants conversation, at least for my money).

Okay. I'm terribly curious. Please explain in more detail? I don't care if I'm spoilered.
Stacey (one of the women they hire to help make the porno) says to Zack that she is constipated. A few minutes later (when you've stopped thinking about it), she's in the middle of a sex scene with the camera guy beneath her. To make a long story short, she gets surprised and explodes shit all over the face of the camera guy.
it's much funnier in the theater.

Was when that drunk walked in while they were in the middle of a scene, demanded a cup of coffee, strolled over to the counter where Mews and Stacy are frozen in mid-fuck and says, "Y'all see the game tonight!?"
The movie is alright. I felt some of the humour was kind of forced and a little cringeworthy. The story is about 90% predictable. Right now, I'd rank it pretty low. Just better than Jay and Bob Strike Back and just worse than Jersey Girl. I think I'm going to need to watch it a few more times on DVD or something to see if my opinion improves.
This is definitely going to appeal more to Kevin Smith fans.
Alright, somebody spoil for me what happens after the credits.
I hate when there's extra stuff after wards.
It's basically a kind of community access-grade commercial advertising NR Productions and the Z and M videos (including a Star Whores boxset) and ends with a we're not just the presidents but also clients joke. There's an extended bit where Brandon is going on about how the NRP videos rekindled his and Bobby Long's relationship. (It probably could've been cut a little shorter since it was just basically an extension of the reunion scene.)

I thought this was a fantastic movie. Combined with Clerks 2 it's nice to see Smith growing a bit as a director AND a writer. His dialogue is still great but doesn't come off so much as some guys talking who just happen to have a camera on them.
I thought Mewes was suprisingly good in the movie as well.
A great watch, but the plot was thrown into the toilet once it served its purpose to put the focus on their relationship. Very uneven, perhaps even rushed ending.

Is it just me or is Seth Rogen in like fucking 3 movies a month?

Easily one of my favorites. I'd put it up there with Chasing Amy, except
Seriously, this film had a lot more heart than I expected. I'm glad Kevin's still got it.
(I really didn't like Clerks 2 much.)
Granted, some of the scenes were just , but I admittedly hadn't laughed that hard at a film in forever.
And everyone: stay after the credits.
Also, Fett's Vette scene: win.
Nope, that's Will Farrell.

Man, what does that even mean?
In any case, whatever, this was way funnier than Jersey Girl.
Sorry, was suppose to be pit instead of shit, I suppose my anger at an abortion of a movie took over. I did not enjoy this movie at all.
well it sounds like you went in with a positive attitude and generally enjoys this guys work.

Also, that horror movie about the g-g-ghosts!
Also, the trailer for My Bloody Valentine in 3D looked so bad, that I thought it was a parody trailer like in Grindhouse.
Now we know Crayons real identity is Tim Burton.
