Am I too early? I am so so so eagerly looking forward to black friday sales this year. I want to find a good DS Lite sale or package of some sort. But I have not been able to find much on any big sales or promotions. I fear that I might be just a little too early in my searching. Anyone know of any good sales or promotions at all that are due to be coming out? What are you looking or hoping will go on sale this black friday. With the economy in the crapper and many analysts claiming that this will be one of the worse holiday sales on record...you have to think that they might try to pull all the stops to get our hard earned money this year. Don't you think?
Useful links posted in this thread that I saw. Sorry if I don't get all of them.

Kotaku and DSfanboy posted the other day that Sears is selling an Ice Blue DS and a Mario Red (with Mario M on it) DS starting at like 6am, until they last.
The Ice Blue comes with Brain Age, and the Mario Red comes with NSMB.
MAX: Liz I really, really wish that this could be something, you know, more. But it can't. We're just...
LIZ: Different.
VOICE-OVER: It's September 24th, I'm Liz Parker and five days ago I died. But then the really amazing thing happened. I came to life.

I am just glad that Best Buy is doing better than CC. Our company was bought by BB about a year ago. It would suck to see what would happen if the rolls were revered.
It's always hard for me to decide between waiting outside Best Buy or Circuit City, and it will still come down to their circulars, but really willing to see what's going up for sale at this Circuit City.
This is my favorite holiday of the year, by far. The seven-hour wait in the cold is harsh but rewarding.
Wow. That Mario Red DS looks great. My son wanted a red DS from Santa this year...and he wanted his own copy of the New Super Mario Bros...that bundle is just incredible...what wonderful timing. I am getting a new DS this year too...my old phat one is breaking. But that Ice Blue...I don't know about that. Like I read someone say in a comment, it's more like pantie blue than ice blue.

personally, I like the ice blue. Probably for the unique factor more than anything else.
Also, both mine and my wife's DS broke just recently. Both of us developed a crack in the same spot, to the left of the power lights. Her's actually fell off, which basically means the top half can now move where ever gravity takes it. Mine is still connected, but barely. I guess I can still play games on it, but its like I've got it on life support.
Also, my wife comandeered it until she gets a new one.
Certainly not. This is the time to start getting ready for that 5 hour madness after turkey day. I hope I'm not opening that day, Because that would suck greatly.
LCD TV's are going to be a hot item as well as computer lcd monitors as well. Its time for me to stock up on some socks too.
What have been some of you guys' awesome items obtained in the past?
Because I do believe it was two years ago that I got Arrested Development, all three seasons for under $35.
I was really disappointed that I didn't get that gold, Zelda DS package last year
But, a few years back we got a trampoline for $90. That was an awesome buy

Usually fred meyers(NW chain) will have a buy 2 get 1 free video game deal. I'm expecting some killer deals on the smaller LCD panels. Thats all I really need anyhow. Anything more then 42inches is too much for my personal needs.
I've never waited outside a store on Black Friday (several times said I would and then when they try to wake me up I tell them to screw off) but this might be the first time I actually do. Looking at getting a nice big HDTV
What have been some of you guys' awesome items obtained in the past?
Because I do believe it was two years ago that I got Arrested Development, all three seasons for under $35.
I got a $1500 HDTV for $800 three years ago.
I ended up scoping out the online BF deals last fall, and I got my current TV (a 40" 1080p Samsung LCD) for about $1100 after shipping from Frys.com. Totally worth waking up early that Friday.
I lurked the hard-core BF forums at SlickDeals last fall, and the consensus I got was that the B&M deals weren't all that hot, though there were quite a few online deals.
Last year, I got a nice 19" widescreen monitor (2ms response, wide viewing angle, high contrast ratio) for $100 at Best Buy on Black Friday last year. Technically, it wasn't the door buster, it was a display model that was actually of higher quality than the door buster (which had sold out by the time my part of the line got through the door). Also picked up The Orange Box for $25 that day.
A word of warning to those excited about the CC closings, from what I've read most stores will simply not be opening starting tomorrow and will be shifting stock to the remaining stores. This is what Ars Technica implied.
The affected stores won't be open tomorrow (Tuesday, November 4), and will begin closing sales on Wednesday, November 5, so check the company's list of locations to see if there's a going out of business sell-off in your neighborhood.
So it's uncertain whether a given store will have a going out of business-type sale or not.

Because I do believe it was two years ago that I got Arrested Development, all three seasons for under $35.
Last year I bought an Xbox 360, with hard drive, for $300.
Of course, now that's the going price.
Also I got Guitar Hero 3 for $40, with wireless guitar, but that wasn't a Black Friday thing, just a "holy shit why is this unopened game at Goodwill?!" thing.
I'd rather not exceed $700, but I suppose it could also depend on the deal. Sears has a couple that would fit that criteria, but I haven't really looked into them quality-wise yet.
Ooooooh, nice DS bundles. Wonder if they're a Sears-only thing, or if theirs are the first ads to surface? Given how well the Nintendogs and Zelda bundles went over, I'd be shocked if it's limited to Sears.
I'm so, so goddamn happy I blundered into my Zelda DS. With a little help.
I would just like to point out that everyone who waits in a line for hours before the store opens it crazy.
I did it for the Wii. Never, ever, ever again.
I honestly think that's half the fun.
Waiting in the cold in front of a store for hours is not only a great conversation stimulus for you and friends, but there's a sense of community in the lines as well because people around you are obviously crazy enough to do the same thing. :P
Note that I don't really go for big-ticket items though, otherwise I'd imagine everyone would be a lot less friendly. I go for DVD and game sales, mainly.

I seem to be the only person I know who has the exact opposite reaction to Black Friday. Instead of searching for the deals, getting up at 5am, standing in line, etc...I barricade my house like the zombie invasion has started, and I don't let anyone in or out....except my wife, who goes Black Friday shopping.

Do you have amazing deals that would draw people to your house?

I guess it wasn't that bad, really. It was probably worse because I didn't sleep at all the night before. Yes, my excitement for Zelda actually prevented me from sleeping.
It was fun when I got home though and set everything up. I played Zelda for a few hours (when you escape from the wolf form, if you've played), but I was so ridiculously tired that I didn't remember a damn thing about it. So when I played the next day I had no idea what was going on. 8-)
I usually miss every black friday due to being holed-up with family. I did make it out to best buy to get a really cheap television that was already sold out, as my relatives didnt wake up until the crack of noon.
Cant complain too much though, I missed out on the gold zelda ds, but found it a few months back for $119 used at gamestop. The dude didnt buy it because the top screen looked scratched but it was only smudged.
The last two things I waited in line for was the burning crusade and the wii. The wii line was fun, people playing mario kart and other ds games, and once they let us line up in the back inside, we could download demos from the download station.
The BC line in front of best buy was crappy. There were close to 300 people, tv news cameras, etc. Might be fun to go see the crowds waiting for WotLK, even though I dont play anymore.
sorta kinda totally different BUT
blockbuster is having a 2 games for $12 rental thingy going on right now, good deal. actually reasonable rental prices for once.
(this is only pertinent to more poor people like me who resort to renting to quench my new-game needs)

Whoa. Renting a game at $6.00 a pop is a good deal? It has been like 6 or 7 years since I last rented a game, but damn!

I'm guessing its an unlimited rental. As in, return whenever you feel like it.
I too haven't rented in a good decade and a half, and it used to be 2 bucks for a 64/PS1 game for 3days/2nights

I don't believe it is.
Gamefly is superior in the rental category, because there's are unlimited and you pay monthly.

One advantage of working early in the AMs every day is that getting up early to shop is no problem at all.
