Left 4 Dead : It's the Zombie Apocalypse... Bring Friends
I cannot kill the tank. One time I was low on health and ran back to the safe room. Low and behold, it came in and beat me to a pulp. I think the best place to fight the tank is in the area where you go down the first set of stairs and there are the two little kiosks and the gates. You can run around in circles and the tank can't get you. (unless you clip on the gate and can't go through)
Just keep your distance and exchange the damage (aggro if you may) between your teammates.
IE: Bill just got dropped by the tank and is now about to get hit again. All of you run close and unload your clips into him. He'll stop paying attention, go to the guy doin the most damage and then try to pound on him.
Left 4 Dead Gold, Pre-Loading Now
November 13, 2008, 2:40 pm - Alden Kroll - Press Release
The Infection Begins Next Week
November 13, 2008 - Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (Half-Life, Portal, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (Steam and Source), today announced its upcoming zombie thriller, Left 4 Dead, has gone gold and is now pre-loading to those who pre-purchased the game via Steam.
Left 4 Dead is the new survival action game from Valve for the PC and Xbox 360 that blends the social entertainment experience of multiplayer games such as Counter-Strike and Team Fortress with the dramatic, narrative experience made popular in single player action game classics such as the Half-Life series of games.
Those who pre-order the game via Steam save 10% off the regular price and may pre-load the game so they are able to play at 12:01 am EST on November 18, 2008 when the game is made available.
The pre-order discount is also available for both the PC and 360 versions at participating retail outlets.
Playable in single player, co-operative, and multiplayer modes, Left 4 Dead is one of the most anticipated releases of 2008 and winner of numerous pre-launch awards, including Best of E3 from multiple outlets. The official demo for the game is available now through November 17 for the PC and Xbox 360.
Yes, pre-loading has started already
(Doesn't look like it uses any files from the demo though)
I do not like fighting tanks. the difficulty is fine, but the hit feedback is very boring. I only complain because the feedback from the horde is just so freaking awesome. love hitting a running zombie in the head and see them flip like I just clothes lined them.
I have yet to test it, but you could probably effectively kite the tank without getting hit if your team is at all competent. Rather than try to shoot him down, you might be able to hold fire and run around until his rage meter drops to 0. Might be worth testing.

I think the idea behind th tank is that he has no feed back from being shot, as isn't supposed to phase him
I propose we play this game like Zombie Master. 1 players goes into godmode/noclip and spawns zombies and weapons around while the other 3 try to survive.
Or maybe it's just cuz I wann fill the safe rooms with witches and laugh, mwuahaha.

I've been playing too much Fallout 3. I need to start switching it up.
I say we give co-op another shot tonight.
That computer all set? :P
I'm using my bro's PC at the moment. I played the single player the other day and it ran great. My PC should be up and running next week when I get the new processor and ram.
So the demo keeps on crashing on me. Appears people with 64-bit Vista are getting the shaft. Anyone experiencing this, or know a potential solution?
This is false. Just because you experience an issue and are running Vista does not mean the two are related.
I've been running it just fine on x64 Vista.
oh Jon
Every problem in any program you've ever run, x86 or not, is Vista's fault.
It's mainly due to the float engine eating up tons of ram.
I am also running on vista X64 without complications.
Also on Vista x64, no problems. Now my XP machine, it flips me off everytime want to play L4D.

I think the only thing I'd like to see implemented in Left 4 Dead is the ability to have spectators. Now I know this seems stupid, but it feels incredibly bad when we have to leave a friend or two out because we're full. I think it would be nice to allow friends to spectate and watch and join in on laughing at our miserable failures, perhaps maybe even switch people in and out or something. Actually I think Source TV could do this, but I haven't checked if Left 4 Dead is capable of that yet.
That's pretty much my only suggestion for this game.
I actually really like this idea. Plus you can join into your friends game and harass somebody to leave.
I love this option.
I agree that would be cool. Because when I logged in yesterday, all my friends were playing Gears, and that made me realize that there's no way we're all going to be able to play together, which kinda sucks.
Unless there's a mode that allows more than four people?
Versus mode allows 8 people.
Think of it as competitive L4D, four guys take on the role of the survivors, the other four get to take on the role of Boss infected (the director occasionally decides when it's time for a Tank to appear and asks one of the players if they want to be it). The survivors have to get as far as possible as fast as possible, and are given a point score related to this. At the end of the round, the teams switch, and now the former survivors have to prevent the other team from beating their score.
Teamwork is essential whichever side you choose, and there's bound to be much fun to be had by being a devious git and completely messing up the survivors escape plans.
Oh sweet, I didn't know about this. For some reason, the game really hadn't caught my interest until recently.
It'll only be available for two or three of the campaigns on release, but they're going to put the rest in later.
Are there regular zombies running around in versus too?
Oh yes, definitely. The director still has control of those. Player controlled infected however, are going to re-spawn much faster than they usually do in the standard co-op game.
What? No they don't. The Director still controls how often you'll spawn as a boss zombie and which you'll spawn as, though you're able to set a preference as to which you want to be.
back into corner and melee. If you have just one more guy with you, the entire horde will eventually die to your magical fists of fury
Wow... that almost ruins the game for me. If the challenge of L4D is that hollow I don't see myself playing it for more than a week or two.
Well, this doesn't help you with Hunters, Smokers, or the problem of making it into a corner before the zombies surround you. It's a useful tactic but it is not 100% foolproof.
Especially on Expert when the zombies do 20% damage per hit. If you mess up you die.
(And frankly taking down a horde with the SMG isn't very hard if you aim for the heads, I much prefer it to the wussy melee fashion.)

Have you played Source games before? It should be the same, maybe tweak your sensitivity.
This is factual.
Personally, I get a great sense of pleasure bashing zombies with the butt of my shotgun.

Luckily I'm going to the beach this weekend and I won't think about it.

One of us is evil and tries to kill everyone else.

I could do it.
By the way pretentious you lie, I saw you with the bottle winging your arm back to get a nice throw at my face.
Or Butterfly.

Or Butterfly.
Yea, quite a few, actually. Perhaps it's because I haven't played a Valve/Source game in a while.
I am confused as to how that would be a twist on a phalla.

Well, getting into that position is kind of hard, especially when boomers and smokers and and everything are trying to rape your face off.
Edit: Beat'd
Not to mention multiple boss spawns always fuck your shit up, no matter how badass one's corner is.
