    Other countries have no choice.

    Apparently.

I don't believe a word of it, but they say so.

The statement was a reference to the American media's habit of referring to our President as "the leader of the free world," as though he is essentially the king of pretty much the whole planet.

    what do you guys think

    will dubya be hated forever

or will he be one of those guys who's hated in office but looked back on more forgivingly by future historians

It really depends on how Iraq turns out.

If, in twenty years, Iraq is a prospering democracy inspiring democratic movements in other Arab nations, he'll be lauded for being farsighted.

If, in twenty years, Iraq is a fractured nation of civil conflict, he'll be called an arrogant imperialist.

I would point out also that he bears some resemblance to Lincoln in that both were obscenely unpopular and both made "emergency powers" type maneuvers while in office. Also, Lincoln did not care about black people.
Comparing the popularity between Lincoln and Bush while ignoring their respective time periods is kind of silly

Yes, there are a bunch of significant differences between the circumstances and the men themselves.

Lincoln be all "shit dawg keep yo' slaves, I don't care none. Just... just don't leave"

bush be all "katrina what? we're supposed to help them?"

More like Governor Blanco be all, "oh no katrina is going to be here in two days we'd better request federal aid now."

No, FEMA was, but when the Feds are prevented from acting until two days before the hurricane hits, there's not much they can do until after the fact.

My point is just that a lot of the blame should go to Louisiana's governor, but it doesn't, because people want to blame Bush for everything.

I think the real blame lies with God for being such a dick with the hurricane.

Guys I'm Canadian. I meant I wish Obama was my president in such a way that I wish he was leading my country, cuz I don't really care for my prime minister at all. Or Canadian politics in general for that matter.

Obama just seems like a cool guy is all.
