Extremely Cheap Digital Cameras?

Well, having just moved, I find myself wanting to take a few pictures of my new surroundings for the people back home. Since I know absolutely jack-all about cameras, I figured I'd ask H/A.

I'm looking for an extremely cheap digital camera, preferably in the sub-$50 range if possible. Obviously, I'm not looking for anything impressive - it doesn't have to be gorgeous pictures, it just has to take pictures. Are there actually any cameras this cheap? If there are, are there any in particular that I should try to find?

Any help would be appreciated.

Not really that cheap. You are better off looking at used cameras. Check Craigslist and make sure they work beofre you buy.

I read that Target gift cards for the holidays would actually be cheap digital cameras...look that up maybe?

You can probably find a new dig. camera that cheap, but it hardly matters which brand at that price range cause they'll all be crap (both in picture and build quality). I've see a brand called SAKAR that goes that cheap. You also might look in a toystore or a toy section of a target/walmart and find something in that price range; you may find the resolution lacking (640x480). As said, used on craiglist will likely get you better value.

If you just don't want to spend any money go buy a disposable camera, get it developed and pay the extra couple of bucks for a CD of the images

The only deal I've seen on something cheap is at Meijer on day after thanksgiving. They have a Kodak easyshare for 70 bucks. Other than that craigslist or ebay is your best bet.

Used. Craigslist. You can probably get something for $25 if you look around.

Get an old Canon A-something on craigslist. Not only will it be cheap as borscht, it will also be a pretty competent camera should you ever want to do more than snapshots.
