Fallout 2 crashes. Help?

Hey all. I bought the Fallout Collection today (Fallout 1,2 and Tactics) and when I try to open the door in the first room in the game.. it crashes.
Does anyone know how to fix it? I'd like to play 1 and 2 before I buy 3. :|

    Patch the game, run it in compatibility mode for windows 95, and post in the Fallout thread.

    Also you should play Fallout before Fallout 2.
