MAGFest 5 (Music And Gaming Festival) is rapidly approaching and it's going to be a blast!


For those of you who don't know, MAGFest, formerly the "mid-atlantic gaming festival", is a weekend long convention (read: party), featuring console gaming, computer gaming, tabletop gaming, panels, movies, and most importantly: VIDEO GAME MUSIC CONCERTS.

The bands at MAGFest crank out the most bitchinest (yes that's a word) rendition of all your old favorites, and even a lot of your newer ones. Some of the best video game cover bands from around the nation come to perform including (but definitely not limited to):
The NESkimos
The Smash Brothers (featuring virt of vgmix.com fame)
Power Glove
This Place is Haunted
Shawn Phase

The gaming room features near every gaming system imaginable (including PC engines, neo geos, saturns, and a ton of arcade machines), and there are tournaments running through the whole convention. Some of the panel topics include: various topics of game industry discussion, music composition, gaming talk in general, and drunken nintendo karaoke is going to make an appearance in there somewhere.

The convention goes from thursday afternoon to sunday afternoon, so that's 3 solid days and nights of gaming, music and partying.

    The music gaming section there ought to be huge.

    GH, Beatmania, Frequency, Space Channel 5... I'd expect the whole nine yards.

    Too bad it's way too far off for me to attend, because it sounds awesome.

    Sweet! Glad to see this is picking up some interest here. The convention had about 750 attendees last year, and more are always welcome.

    Huh, exact same Sheraton the anime convention I go to every year(animeUSA) is in.

    I live about 20 minutes away.

    For those of you who are looking to carpool, or people to room with, you can use the ride/room database.

    Just put in your info, look for other people that would be en route, and work out carpools and hotel room sharing.
