that thread over there with the movie about nazis or whatever got me thinking

some peoples needs to learn to seperate the artist from the art

all you dicks all but tom cruise is a scientologist barfalarfalarrrrgh can suck a dick. Boy can act, I ain't listening to him give no sermon. I just wanna see him scowl at an explosion or something.

same with folks that are all "Woody Allen is a child molester, I can't watch his movies"

or "Michael Jackson puts his weiner in little boys' buttholes, I don't dig on his tunes"

fuck that noise, son. If you can't get down to no Thriller because you got a thing about how he likes sweet, sweet pre-teen puckers, then you are dead inside.

So, discuss - the ability to separate the artist from the art they produce, the difference between a person's professional work and their personal life. In an age where celebrity is god, can we objectively enjoy something even though the creator may be someone we disagree with personally?

    I'm pretty sure a person's actions are inseparably tied in some form to their creative actions. Good try, though. If you want to hold a dichotomy between the artists actions and the person's behaviors, go right ahead, but it only works sometimes. I find that I cannot look at Will Smith the same way anymore because I know he's a scientologist. Do I still enjoy his hilarity? Yes. In the back of my head still lies the "How could anyone like Xenu?"

    I know of a bunch of actors in real life. Some are awesome human beings, some are shitty human beings. But when it comes to being out on stage and performing, the only thing that matters is whether or not you can act. Donate to all the charities you want; if you're a shitty actor, people won't care.
