I've looked around and I haven't found anything that works (I tried http://status.zensupport.co.uk/index.php?serviceid=10&incidentid=715 ) to fix what's happening with my TF2: It either stops loading at "sending client info" or it does connect and then I get a Warning:Connection Error 10 second later, and then when I try to reconnect it shows me as still connected (in the server's player list) and tells me my steamID's still connected and so does not let me connect. I've got a Speedtouch ST780 modem, if that matters at all (The solution I linked to was for that particular brand of gateway.)
i had this problem with the same modem and fixed it eventually. Not using that modem now so I can't make sure, but pretty sure this is the same fix I used:
1) Start a command prompt (start -> run -> "cmd" -> ok)
2) Type 'telnet speedtouch' (replace telnet with thompson or whatever brand it is if telnet doesn't work), or if that doesn't work, try 'telnet 192.168.1.254' (again try thompson or whatever if telnet gives no response)
3) It'll ask for you to login to the modem (username/password)
if this doesn't work you'll have to search elsewhere for the way to enter the command line for your modem
once in the command line, enter:
connection bindlist
You will get a result like, you will be needing this information:
GAME(UDP) udp 27010-27011
Enter the command (modify this if your portrange says something else!):

and hopefully (maybe restart afterward, i dunno) that'll fix it
