So is there a consensus on which of the two bundles (RB2 vs GH:WT) is the better one?

I already have GH:WT and the included guitar. I'm happy so far.

Which bundle should I get? I didn't ask in the GH or RB threads so I could avoid partisanship. I don't mind taking the hit if I have to sell GH:WT if people say that bundle is better... with my employee discount it's very minimal.

So just presuming that I don't care either way, and eventually I'll end up with both software games, which bundle peripherals are better?

Can you even play GH:WT with the rock band drums? I thought it had five pads + kick pedal or something.

I haven't really looked into it too much but I'm pretty sure (according to the instrument compatibility matrices) all the stuff bundled with the newest games work with the other newest game. Like I know there's a lot of stuff about backwards compatibility between different guitars, but the drums and microphones work with all three games (RB, RB2, GH:WT) that support them.

It's down to personal preference. Both sets of instruments have had reliability issues. Cross-game wise, playing RB with GHWT drums will be more awkward than playing GHWT with RB drums. Besides that uh, I don't really think there's anything else worth mentioning.

Which guitar would you say is preferable? I've only played with the WT guitar.

I've had the strum bar die on two rockband 2 guitars since I bought it a little under two months ago which has been a real downer:( ..and their support/warranty system sucks (at least if you live in canada) took almost a month to get a replacement for the first one, and the second one just died yesterday so it looks like a guitar-less xmas for me :(

Guitar Hero World Tour will condense the notechart if it detects Rock Band drums.

Speaking of, the Rock Band 2 drums are vastly superior to the Guitar Hero World Tour drums.

RB2 just hit the 500 song mark recently. Also, you can have statues and posters made of your band members, it's pretty slick.

Here in FreedomLand the replacement warrenty is great, from what I remember with RB 1. when I got my RB1 set right after it was released my guitar was broken and I had a new one within 3 days.

At this point the game isn't the question because the instruments are cross-compatible, it's which set of instruments is better. This is actually relevant to my interests since I missed out on the Rock Band thing the first time around and have been contemplating it, especially since I can get GH:WT and RB/2 on one set of instruments and Goozex the games.

Seriously, I'd love to get an answer to this as well. What happens when you try to use the GHWT drums in RB2? Do you just use one of the cymbals, or something?

The general consensus is that the RB2 drums are better than the GHWT drums.

It all comes down to personal preference, but I prefer the feel of the RB2 Strat to the GHWT guitar. Also worth noting is the GHWT touch strip versus the RB2 solo frets. The solo frets work fine in RB2 if you like them, but the touch strip is pretty damn near useless in GHWT.

When you use the RB2 drums in GH:WT, the orange cymbal notes get mapped to the green pad.

When you use the GH:WT drums in RB2, the orange cymbal just sits there unused.

Anyway, if you already have GH:WT and the guitar from it, get the RB2 bundle: you'll have both games, one of each guitar, and the drums will have the same four-column style note charts in both games.

How awkward is it to use the GHWT drums in RB2? I don't play the drums too much, but my stepsister does, and I want to get a kit with cymbals for her to use, 'cause I know she'd love it. Does RB2 map the yellow pad to a high hat/cymbal in general, or are there songs that would be using the cymbal as a tom or something?

It seems like the best would be for GHWT to recognize RB2 drums with the Madcatz cymbals as a GHWT kit, but I'm pretty sure that's not gonna happen.

I know for a fact the GHWT drums in RB2 are going to be awkward as hell because of how it's configured. I could tell from the songs I played on the GHWT demo kit at Best Buy.
