360 power source busted

My 360 power source (third party because I have been using it in different countries with different voltages and this one auto switches) conked out. The light does not illuminate and it doesnt feed power to the 360. But it popped (and it went pop!) during use of the console (watching Frank Sinatra special featuring Ella Fitzgerald on Netflix- of all fucking things) and I'm wondering if there's any chance of it being the 360 too. I have no way of knowing with no working power source. And I'd like to avoid having a friend bring theirs over...so is there a chance the 360 got conked too?

Sounds like the circuit tripped or maybe a capacitor blew out. If there is no circuit breaker on it and you did hear a pop i'd be a little worried about the 360, but hopefully there was a fuse or something to cut the power before it got sent to your 360. Only way to be sure is to try a different power source.

Well the pop was only on the power source. It actually popped twice before the pop which turned everything off. Power source smelled burned, 360 did not.

Odds are you're fine. I've found that video game power supplies (I've had three go on me, from various systems for various reasons) are pretty good about not taking entire consoles with them. They're designed to at least nominally protect the system they're powering from surges.

I'd not worry too much about it.

EDIT: Though obviously there is a chance that this is not the case. But if you were, like, putting money on it you'd put the money on your 360 being fine.

There's a possibility that this was also caused by the 360 itself. Was the power source ever exceptionally hot?
