Flying from Florida to San Jose,CA in january. The furthest I've flown is to Chicago, and that is only 1 timezone away (UTC -6 right?). What should I expect as far as flight time? The trip has me going from FL to TX. Then from TX to SJ. The time says depart from FL at 6:35 AM EST, arrive to TX at 8AM CST.

Now I know it is longer than 2 hours, I just have no idea how you calculate the actual flight time due to the stupid timezone changes.

Is jetlag even a possibility just through 3 timezones?

Also, anything I should do up there? I'm staying with a friend so I'm sure they know stuff to do. I'll be there for a week so I'm sure suggestions won't hurt.

Just convert all the times to EST. Your flight leaves at 6:35 AM EST and arrives in Texas at 9:00 AM EST, flight time about 2.5 hours. Jet lag won't be so bad over a 3 hour difference, but if you head out and party that night in San Jose, don't be surprised if you feel tired and want to turn in early. You ought to be able to shake it in one night.

Usually if you check on the flight on the airline's website it will tell you what the total flight time is (time in the air) and total trip time is.

Jet lag is a possibility but it shouldn't be too bad with it being only 3 hours. Mostly you'll probably just end up going to be a bit earlier and finding it easier to wake up in the morning.
