I recently sent my 360 off to get "repaired" by Microsoft after it RROD'd. While I'm waiting to get it back, I will going to a friend's place, and that friend has a 360. Now, I have a whole bunch of XBLA games he doesn't have, and I have unlocked a lot of content in some of my games.
What I'd like to know is, will I be able to access my stuff if I connect my hard drive to his 360?
Difficulty: he doesn't have a broadband connection, so his 360 is completely offline.
One more thing: when I get a working 360 back from Microsoft, I want to be able to play all my stuff. I know this will involve using the licence migration tool and whatnot, but I want to make sure that trying to access my stuff on my friend's console won't prevent me from transferring all the licences, later on.
AFAIK, putting your hard drive in another person's 360 will work just fine and won't require any migration to get it working after putting it back in your 360. I take my 360 hard drive over my friend's house occasionally to play RB2. Saves me the trouble of having to pack up my entire Xbox in addition to all the instruments.
I've found that DLC from Rock Band can't be played off-line (I may be totally out to lunch on this one, but it's come up twice for me). Even free songs will not allow themselves to be played if the 360 is not connected to the internet.

I believe this is correct. However I think there is a tool from MS you can use to make this content available offline. I don't have the link handy, however I am sure someone will be able to provide this info.

Said tool does exist, you can find it on xbox.com, but you can only transfer the content once a year, so you can't transfer it to your buddy's console ID for the evening, then go home and transfer it back.
OK, I think all this answers my questions. My fears have been confirmed. I won't be able to play using my own drive unless I can get the box to connect to LIVE, and I can't use the migration tool because I want to be able to use it once I get my replacement box back.
You shouldn't have to use the migration tool when your box comes back -- as part of the repair Microsoft will migrate your content to your new console ID. But if you want to use the content offline, you will need to go to download history and "re-download" each item. Since they're already on the hard drive this won't actually pull them down again, but it will refresh the license with your new console ID.
Using your hard drive on another 360 can mess some of your games up. I tried to play Braid on my brothers 360 and it would not let me, it said I only had the trial. When I tried to play it on mine it did the same thing and I had to call in and get some verification code bullshit off their website.
