PS3 making router drop connection.

In our household we have 2 PCs (both wired connections) and 1 cable I would like to use between my 360 and PS3 switching between then as needed. Now with the Xbox everything is hunky dory but when the PS3 is hooked up it drops the connection to everything on the network when I start the console up and intermittently thereafter and if I try to play a game or update one online it also happens for no reason. Also doenst matter if the PS3 is using a wired or wireless connection.

We have a Linksys WRT54G. Now thing is our old PS3 didn't have this issue it's only this new one. It's come down to where the only way to play online is to bypass the router completely and that not really an option till late at night when everyone else is asleep.

I had a similar issue, to fix it I had to turn off the Media Sharing on the PS3 so it doesn't look for Media Servers on the network. For some reason that would cause the router to reboot periodically, but I never fully figured out what was happening.

To get Media Sharing to work I had to buy a new router entirely.

I have the WRT54G as well and the Media Sharing seemed to be the culprit. If it was turned on while trying to download an update I would get to about 5% and then all PC's and the PS3 would get bounced from the router. Solution is to only have Media Sharing turned on when you actually want to stream. Not elegant, but has worked for me so far.
