New computer problems.

I'm attempting to build a new computer, but after assembling it, problems have arisen. The keyboard and mouse lights flash on like it is booting, but the fans aren't spinning and nothing is showing up on screen. Any ideas on where to progress from here?

Is it posting? (do you hear a beep?) Probably not.

Do you have the ram/cpu seated properly?

Did you attach the ATX line for the CPU?

what mobo and CPU are you using?

    It's not posting.
    Yeah, that's fine.
    I think so?

Uh, there are a couple things that could be causing the problem to my knowledge.

A Bad Mobo, or not all the power connections are connected. I'm a little sick and I can't think straight so I'm not going to tell you to do anything specific. So just make sure all your power connections are connecting to the right space.

The latter is probably what's going on. My mobo manual is less than helpful concerning it. Any links to a walkthrough for that particular area?

Basically, there is a big connector and a little connector (usually next to your cpu) for power on your mobo that both should be connected.

I checked and it wasn't plugged in, but even after plugging it in, the same thing happens.

Is your power supply big enough?

Okay, new developments. After reseating everything (and trying a different power supply--same problem) I got the power to function, fans are spinning, but still no video, with the onboard and the pci-e. And it's still not posting. Any ideas where to go from here?

uh, reset the Cmos? make sure the Cmos jumper is not bridged in the reset posistion? Remove Cmos battery for an hour or so and replace it?

I dunno dude, if the fans are spinning but the mobo is not posting it could possibly be a bad mobo. I'd RMA it asap.

After resetting the CMOS, it's posting and everything. Seems like everything is detected and functioning. Thanks a bunch!
