Coming out on January 16th is the biopic based on the former king of New York, Christopher Wallace aka The Notorious B.I.G. aka Biggie Smalls aka Big Poppa. Responsible for bringing the spotlight back to the East Coast hip-hop scene, he was one of rap's biggest and best.
Jamal Woodward plays Biggie. He's got both the look and the sound down, which is both cool and weird. Derek Luke plays Puff Daddy, with neither his look nor his sound down (but that's okay because no one cares about puffy). We've also got roles for Tupac, Lil' Kim, Faith Evans, and even Snoop Dogg in here.
I'm definitely gonna try and see this. I don't expect it to be anything other than a biased glorification of Biggie, but it's not a documentary so it doesn't need to be anything other than that.
so which one of yous is a true player (throw your hands in the ayer)
Man, the other rappers should just be playing themselves. Well, maybe not Tupac.
wouldn't happen
a) they'd want too much money
b) they'd disagree with what happened vs what's in the movie
They would definitely ask for too much money, and I think it might just be a bit odd seeing them play themselves. I almost feel like other actors would do a better job playing the roles instead of the actual rappers.
