How I Met Your Mother has new episodes starting Monday, but the "Fall Television" thread doesn't seem as appropriate now. So we can talk about it here!
HIMYM, for those who aren't in the know, is a show about how late twenties/early thirties bachelor/architect Ted Mosby met the love of his life. Ted (voiced by Bob Saget) sits his kids down one day in 2030 to tell them, in oddly specific detail, the circumstances that led to his and their mother's union.
Because it's being narrated from over twenty years in the future, the show skips back and forth along the timeline, forgets and adds things to scenes, and really comes across as someone telling a story to you. It's also got a bunch of hilarious running jokes and catchphrases, as well as cool little plot elements that move the narrative along-- my favorite of which is the yellow umbrella (watch my favorite episode, "No Tomorrow" for that one).
Also one of the creators went to my high school, so I've got a bit of hometown pride in this show.
Also also: the ever-charming Neil Patrick Harris will be hosting SNL this weekend. I haven't really made an effort to watch it much the past couple years, but I am definitely tuning in. Here's a "Rebound Bro" reunion.
And next comes the part where we all repeat catch phrases for a couple pages.
