ANNOUNCEMENT: Epicalypse for 360/PC

I would like to announce the creation of a game created by my friend and I via the Penny Arcade Forums.

Epicalypse will be released for PC late 2009 and shortly after it will be posted onto the xbox live community games arcade. The game was created on the concept of making a game so over exaggerated that it would be an instant cult classic.

The game is a sidescrolling platformer that allows you to take control of 2 characters from the start(one male and one female), each with unique skills and weapons. Throughout the game you will notice that each level is another "epic" scenario that we have created.

The demo that will be released in a few months will feature a level towards the beginning of the game. The level will be the only water level in the game.....that will take place on a train hijacked by ghost pirates(see where the epic comes in?). Each level will progressively become more intense leading up to the final boss which you will travel to by surfing on an atomic bomb with eagle wings.

This game sounds like a joke but I assure you that we are excited to release this game. Violence, comedy, and an exaggerated storyline? What more could you ask for?(gameplay will be great too.)

Leave feedback if you are excited, have questions, or would like to assist creation of this game.

Good luck. We're developing an XBLCG title at the moment.

Can't wait to see what the sales figures for existing titles are like!

The game title is actually a pun. It's just a combination of the word "Epic" and "Apocalypse"

The word you want is 'portmanteau'

I hate it when the Apocalypse is anything less than epic.

Yeah, I got it. You might have wanted to save this thread for when you actually had something to show, however.

Edit: Thanks Blackjack. Mine was a pun.

Sorry, you're right. I don't usually think enough when it comes to choosing a word from my vocabulary.

You know I would buy community games, but there don't seem to be any good review sites online. How do I know which ones aren't shit?

I thought about that. I wanted to see how reaction would be for now, and see if I would get any suggestions, or advise. Looking back I guess I cant get that without releasing any screenshots, gameplay footage, etc.:P

There's nothing here to react to, and I don't know what sort of suggestions you'd be looking for. Spend more time designing the game than making it?

Yeah I mean last week when everything ended in a giant explosion? Nothing memorable about it. It kinda sucked.

Here's the XNA Community games thread - http://forums.penny-arcade.com/showthread.php?t=73938

Although the OP is out-of-date (I really should get around to updating it), if you check the actual thread, you can find quite a bit of information about which XNA games people around here are enjoying.

Why are you announcing a game on a forum where you have barely any posts? Wouldn't it make more sense to do it on a forum where you are an active poster?

Why is he posting about a game without any screenshots, gameplay videos, concept art, or even a website?

    This I wonder more about

Get some screenshots or concept stuff, or this thread is pointless
