She Did What?! Best Way To Fix Scratched Game Discs ...
It seems the wife just called me and advised that my three year old daughter put my Intelligent Qube disc into her Gamecube so she can play too. Well it seems that now the game will only go to the menu screen and that is how far as it goes.
What is the BEST METHOD to fix scratched discs? Are machines better or just by hand the best??
If you can find something called Merlin Magic, that is what I've personally used to fix some scratches on game discs. It isn't perfect, but it works well. It also comes with this really fine sandpaper to remove deeper scratches.
Keep in mind that a lot of times machine refurbishing can leave buffing marks on discs, but if you have some serious damage, it will help.
Flush it down the toilet. No, seriously. Throw it in the toilet and flush. Don't pee in it first though.
Ok, so maybe the one time I did that and it worked was a fluke. I've read a bunch of solutions, from spit to furniture polish. I had a bunch of PS2 discs that got scratched because of the case they were in. The only thing that seemed to make them work again was to play them in a PS3.
If you don't have a disc doctor Rub it down with a white candle, Rub it in hard. Cover ever square inch, then polish it off with a piece of felt or clean soft cloth.
In any case I'd be afraid to put anything on a disk then put it in a 360.
Unless I was wearing a ballistic vest.
Well these things are supposed to protect it, Since my 360 eats discs like a fat kid eats cake I'd gladly stick one of these on. Especially since I have to polish Halo3 like once a month now.

Adding weight to something that spins really fast is not a good idea, the dvd-reader is shit to begin with so "d-skins" or similar will just shorten its lifespan.

I'm intrigued by this thread, because I have honest to god never had a problem with scratches on any of my discs.
You guys need to post more videos with farfetched solutions.
Bananas? Was that kid taping the video in a fucking dark room or something? Maybe he wouldn't scratch his discs up so much if he could see where he was going in his house.
I tried using Disc doctor on my Rock Band disc after my 360 ate it, no luck. My father suggested toothpaste, and wouldn't shut up about it. So I used toothpaste and my RB started working again.

confirmed
Or at least I tried it once and it actually worked.

Suggestions ...
Call some game stores and see if they can resurface/fix discs. Bring it to them.
Keep your $75 video games someplace where your 3 year-old can't get to them.
I have never had a problem before today. She's been playing for the last year or so and knows every game I have is as precious as her and treats them as such.
I don't know if this was just a random act but seeing her happiness grabbing any game she wants and playing with them is worth more then any amount of money.

Oh, man, I know I'm not helping but damn that is hilarious.
Also, I may have to try this toilet flushing thing.

How so?
Guessing the whole "games being as precious as your daughter" thing is what he found hilarious. So did I for that matter. We get what you mean, it's just funnier thinking like that.
Car wax. Most CD cleaning solutions you see out there are car wax. You can get a few ml of CD cleaner for 7 bucks, or you can get a whole bottle of car wax.
Be happy it was only one disc. When mine was three, she decided to make a really neat pattern with her entire Disney dvd collection (40+ original movies). I bought a ocuple of tubes of D-Scratch and managed to restore about 1/3 of them. It is like car wax for discs. You put it on thick, let it dry for a while, and then polish it off. It fills the small grooves and completely buffs out lighter scratches.
Toothpaste but for god's sake don't use a toothbrush to apply it. Also check the top of the disc for damage too. Any deep scratches there are a deal breaker.
I have a bad story with a Disc Doctor, although it was probably 9 years ago, so maybe they've gotten better. I had a copy of Tomba! for PS1, a fantastic game that had somehow managed to get scratched and wouldn't load past the first loading screen. I had to play this game more in my life, so I went out and picked a Disc Doctor up. Maybe I did it wrong, but it looked like I overly buffed the disc and ruined it. The PS1 couldn't even read it as a game. I would later re-buy Tomba! when I learned about Amazon and Ebay but I was still saddened by the loss of that game and never tried fixing a disc again.

Believe me I feel your pain.
I do recommend this stuff Best Buy uses on the LCD TVS. Works wonders.

Yes. You are also not supposed to use a banana.
worked for me.
Is that something like d-skins?

(Please do not gift. My game bank is already full.)

On the down side however, now whenever I play NBA Street I have a need to brush my teeth.

steam.
Who even thinks to try that?
I don't think I've ever used a banana to clean anything.
I used it on a free disney dvd game thing from Mcdonalds. No wait.... that was an apple.
There are a lot of kinds of car wax. Make sure you get liquid wax for clear coats, the kind WITHOUT polish or flecks of stuff in it.
The toilet is a swirling water bath. Try something more hygienic, like a large plastic bowl. You can even add mild detergent.
