I used the nifty search function and read through that thread, I saw the techniques offered to the victim.
Anyway I more or less wanted to know if my concoction of honey, lemon juice, and warm water is suitable for my throat. I honestly find that it doesn't help, either does salt water. Maybe it's more of a healing process than a pain reliever.
Also chloraseptic doesn't work because my pain is too low in my throat? I don't know what to say I might go to a doctor as the pain comes and goes in severity over the day, over the past few days. Motrin has worked best. I hope I didn't answer my own question. I hope someone reads this.
Could be drainage. Stuff drains out of your sinuses and down your throat(this usually happens to me at night), and turns your throat raw a little. I usually rock some ibuprofen or some of that sore throat spray stuff, Cepacol.
It sounds like you got whatever I had a few weeks ago. And sadly I couldn't find anything to dull the pain. I tried everything you did and none of them worked for me. I think the closest I ever came to having something to work for me was sucking on some soft chew kinda candy. Maybe try getting something like starburst or something. Though I should say that even with those the pain was back a few minutes after, so you'll likely just have to tough it out.
If it's prolonged and/or you have a fever with it, go to a doctor because it might be strep throat, which you will need antibiotics for. We seem to be having a series of strep throat case in my office lately, so 'tis the season.
I would like to add something to a lot of this sore throat advice, especially as cold and flu season comes upon us. Using chloraseptic or gargling with salt water is still recommended, but it's usually addressing the symptom rather than the cause. In this season, the cause of a lot of sore throats is actually coming from your sinuses, and it's the result of post-nasal drip in your throat even if you're not aware of this. Take some sinus medication (my personal favorite is Actifed as it seems to be the only thing that work, but it will knock you on your ass if you're not prepared), and it will usually help your throat to clear up, although it may feel dry for a day or two.
