My fear in going to PAX would be that I don't know anybody well enough to have a group to go around with

but I don't have to worry about that, because Seattle is in the corner of the country farthest from me

Man Pooro I didn't even remember that you won the thing.

I vaguely recall hearing that someone here won it. But shit I didn't know it was you.

And you know, being able to recall your surname is just a bit freaky.

Yeah I'd say it makes a lot of sense, K. I mean, I'm always a little worried when I go to PAX when some of the "heavy hitters" from the boards are showing up, partially because I'm easily intimidated (I waited like four minutes at PAX 05 before approaching the SE++ group, boy did I feel awkward) and partially because I don't want to seem like a complete goof.

Man, I get that way too

Do you ever get people geeking out about how you won the omegathon?

I will never, ever mention the Omegathon unsolicited.

But sometimes my buddies mention to somebody that I won a video game tournament. If they ask which one, and they say "The one at PAX," most people go "Oh, cool," and leave it at that.

But a handful of times, people have gone, "Oh, shit. LeRoy?!"

And that is bizarre to me.

I could see how that would be weird.

Being in the banner ad just exacerbated it all, really

Didn't know Tube. I just said aloud at one point, "I heard Tube is here but pretending not to be Tube." Then he introduced himself to me. I told him he had infracted me that week and I thought it was funny. He told me he---oh shit I agreed not to tell the rest of this story.

And Knob looked nothing like any picture of him I've ever seen on here. I think Agent Vessago or someone said, "That guy over there with the long hair, that's Knob!" when we passed the lobby once. I don't know how he knew what he looked like though.

About 90% of the people there were super friendly and welcoming. I wouldn't even worry about that. There was only one group being all high-school cliquey but whatever. Everyone else was really approachable and easy-going.

I wish I hadn't been so distracted at the time, I was practically on Mars in my head and didn't realize it until later.
