Eastbound & down is a new show on HBO sunday's 9:30 central after flight of the conchords.It's about a once MVP world series pitcher whose bad spending habits, decline of talent, and overall shittyness transformed him into a school gym teacher. It's being executive produced or whatever by this guy:

    The first episode was pretty great. Especially for a first episode.
    I don't really see it as breaking any new ground (except maybe in the
    accurate portrayal of coke-binges on film
    ) but it was damn funny.
    In case anyone isn't aware this is the guy from The Foot Fist Way. Which I also found to be funny but not nearly as well done as this show.

    I totally agree with this. These guys have definitely knocked an eight ball back amongst friends before.

    The second episode was pretty good - not up to the first, and it seemed significantly shorter to me . . but i think that was just some of the pacing.

    We'll see how it goes. This could turn out to be pretty awesome or it could veer into shitty territory if we dont see significant character development.

    This is a quality show for sure. Last episode the video he made was hilarious, with everything blowing up and exploding as soon as he touched it. Will Ferrell's role was great too.

    danny mcbride is another paul rudd, a hillarious actor who keeps getting stuck in supporting roles. he was great in tropic thunder & pineapple express.

    It's pretty much Foot Fist Way: The Series. Only Danny McBride plays a baseball player. Same general humor and tone. If you couldn't stand Foot Fist Way, this one's probably not for you.

    and what the hell is foot fist way? I'm going to have to look it up. I caught up on the first 2 episodes of this, and had already seen 3, it's fucking great.

    I like Danny McBride a lot more than Paul Rudd.

    Season yes, series, probably not. It's a big hit. So much so that they're rolling forward with the period stoner comedy (at least, I think that's what it is...) Your Highness ahead of schedule.

    I love this show - can't wait to see the finale.

    So I am hearing rumors this is getting picked up for another "season".


    Apparently they are doing 6 episode runs but don't take my word for it.

    This is by far my favorite moment of the season btw
