so, there is an artist's "corner" here. i am posting here in the hopes that people could give me some leads on where to go on the internets to find lots of very talented artists in contemporary or fine arts. i didn't post in the artist's corner because, honestly, most of what i've viewed there has been somewhat underwhelming for me. though i haven't given that section too much of a chance.

i just figured there might be some people elsewhere on these forums who could point me in the right directions.

i'd give the AC a chance. whether or not there's a stack of dodgy tripe in the threads on any given day, there are regulars with immense practical and technical knowledge, and they will give you good advice based on your skill level.

conceptart.org is another fairly well-supported community with some fine artists if you're sure that the AC can't help you

while edification would be nice, i think that is better achieved through schooling, which i am currently partaking in. i more just want to find lots of places i can go to check out art i find excellent and interesting. i feel like if i have a problem, it's a lack of inspiration. looking at a plethora of other artists might help with that.

in that case maybe you're looking for something like deviantart?

edit: you'll have to do a bit of wading to get to anything worthwhile, though. but it's the internet - that's always the case

Penny Arcade Artist Corner forum has PLENTY of great artists/illustrators who post regularly there. theres also conceptart.org and DeviantArt (you just need to swim through piles of shit to get to any good stuff:)) Though, if you are looking inspiration in 'fine-art', i'd have no idea where to look.

Here's a few links which inspire me to paint...

Maybe you should post some of your work and find out if the artists here will give you a good critique rather than judge from what you may of seen. You dont factor in that people who create masterpieces wont go to the bother of posting progress nor pictures of what they have or are doing due to intellectual property theft.

Post a few works, Im sure the artists corner will be able to find things you need to improve on. If your looking to just show off your work find a gallery to display in or try a local art school.

What kind of art do you like? Who are some of your favorite artists?

I could post a huge list of artists, but everyone likes different things.

while it depends on what you're looking for, i look at these practially every day. Together they show a diverse selection of what's going on today:
"ffffound" and "abduzeedu" focus more on graphic design
dropular, "we heart it" and "riot rite right clit clip click" (sometimes nsfw) focus more on photography.
and "Drawn!" caters to all your illustration needs.

i think ffffound is the most suitable for what you're looking for.

It's difficult looking for decent fine art stuff online since in english there only seems to be one commonly used word for art and Art. That always bugs my personally..
