Can't access external hard drive: solved for now

So I picked up an enclosure to test my wifes harddrive on another computer. plug it in, and it shows up on the drive letters and the little green usb thing pops up.
however when i open up the drive though explore nothing shows up, nor does it allow me access to scan it.
edit:
it lists it as location 0 if that makes a difference.
double edit. i restarted the computer and it might have just been the usb plug it was in since it is working now.
