So my significant other recently found a website called Swaptree, which fashions itself as a sort of online swap meet where you place up movies, books, games and/or CDs for trade for like or similar valued items you place on a want list on a one-for-one basis. It's free service, or so it claims, other than the cost of shipping the items via media mail to the other parties.
I've never heard of a site like this, and from exploring it, it looks viable to get rid of some of my old books/movies and/or games, but my concern is that I would put up an item, ship it out and get absolutely nothing in return. For those interested, the FAQ can be found HERE
My question is dose anyone else have any experience with this website, be it good or bad. If so, would you recommend it to others?
Can't imagine it'd be much of a scam if all the person was getting out of it was a half dozen used cd's though. Naturally don't send money of course. Chances are you'll get jacked if you use it long enough. I mean, some people are just dicks about anything also the mail system may lose packages.
I've heard nothing but good things about it. These sorts of programs always require a bit of faith in the prevailing goodness of humanity at large, but as long as you trade with people who have sound reputations, you should be fine.

I know someone who has used it to trade books, and she said it was fantastic. IIRC it works on a sort of credit system, as opposed to "I have this book you want, but what will you give me". It was a long time ago that I asked her about it though.. it could be different now, or I could be misremembering.

We’ve decided to give it a go with some books that I didn't particularly like that have been collection dust on the shelf. I figured I'd try 2-3 swaps, and if it doesn’t work out, I didn't misplace anything of great value. I'm a little hesitant to list a game for trade right now, but maybe in a few weeks/months I'll try it.

Thanks for the input.
There's already a site for swapping games that has a good reputation: www.goozex.com
There used to be a thread about it in G&T, but I haven't seen it lately. There are a lot of PA members who use it.

I second using Goozex to trade games. It's reliable, the community is great, and there are plenty of checks in place to make sure you don't get scammed. It works on a points system, so you're not directly trading. Instead, you earn points for games you send out and spend the points on games you request. Point values are adjusted weekly to account for supply and demand. The only downside is that for some games the wait can be kind of long, but if you are patient it's worth it. I haven't bought a game in a long time because of Goozex.

Goozex, maybe?
I've heard of SwapTree before, or at least I think I have, and I don't recall hearing anything terrible about it.
Thanks for the input.
