Ok, So a couple months ago I got my self a fancy 22" HDMI LCD monitor. and then recently I bought a HDMI to DVI cable (was using VGA that it came with). However, when i connect the monitor to my computer using the HDMI cable, it doesn't work. However, I did notice that the DVI port looks slightly different then DVI -> VGA adapter i'm using.
anybody have similar problems?
Here's what the cable looks like:

Does your monitor have an input switch (or button) anywhere on it? You will likely need to toggle it over to HDMI mode as, by default, it will still be looking for a signal on the VGA port.
Check that your monitor supports either DVI-D or DVI-I...you might have one that only supports the analog signals of the DVI connector, which aren't present in the HDMI connector that you're now using on the other end. Or I might be way off base, but it's something else to check.
