I have xp sp3
My wireless connection has disappeared. I can't even find the option in network connections to enable it. It was there like a week ago, then my buddy had me update to service pack 3 and now it's gone.
How do I re-enable my wifi connection or even just bring back the application to enable it?
p.s. my computer has no physical switch to turn wifi on or off (ibm thikpad t41)
First, go to Network Connections and see if it's enabled (or even present) there.
If it isn't in Network Connections, go to Control Panel > System > Device Manager and see if there's any uninstalled hardware or hardware problems. If there isn't check IBM's website for any updated wireless drivers.
Figure out the model number of the wireless card in your computer. Try and track down the drivers for the card and install them again. Also check the device manager like Cyd said. If worse comes to worse you can always pick up a USB wireless adapter and be back in business.

The lack of a comma in the thread title made me think this was going to be about Baby's First Cell Phone or something.
+1 on checking the device manager to see if there's something wrong with the wireless card.

I was thinking more looking for suggestions on where to lose ones wireless virginity.
Check IBM's website for the latest drivers for your wireless card. When you remove the card in the device manager, you can use the downloaded drivers to install it, rather then the default ones.
This is only if the defaulted ones don't work.

"What are you dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the goddamn Batman!"
I had this happening about half the time with my 3 year old Dell laptop. Even kept doing it through a windows re-install. Eventually gave up on it, bought a cheap as I could find new wireless NIC and never had a problem since.
Could have been a) bad card b) overheating c) gremlins. The $20 I spent on the new card was a much better option then spending hours on forums/tinkering with it.
