"There goes another one." Foreman Ychem Calbes stepped back from the window as the LAAT/i hummed away. "That makes five o'them gunships headin' out to that old base in the last half 'n hour. Thought maybe we'd seen the last of 'em after they caught that Sep'ratist Council... but they're flyin' around more'n ever."
The atmosphere in the grungy company cantina was tense. Normally, the building would be filled with raucous miners getting off work at this hour, just before the evening shift change--but something was amiss. The Empire was afoot. They should have been pulling away from Bandomeer what had been a skeleton garrison. Instead, more troops were piling into a base that hadn't seen much use at all for well over a year, even as the war had intensified elsewhere. The Foreman had sent his miners home a little early: he was inherently distrustful of the New Order (and for a matter of fact, the Old one too).
'Cal' spat on the floor and turned to address the six other occupants of the squat, low-lying building. "I dunno how much longer you folk're gonna wanna hang round these parts. Things look like they're headin' south quick'r'n'a brand new SoroSuub landspeeder to the repair shop."
word(s) of the day: quick'r'n'a

HOUSE RULES!
I'm going to be lenient about Dark Side Points just for the sake of fun. You may still get some if you're a giant asshole!
If you have already used your second wind(s) for the day, you can catch another second wind by voluntarily moving –1 persistent step down the condition track. The persistent condition remains until you’ve had surgery performed on you or until you get eight consecutive, uninterrupted hours of rest.
Gwis Tava comes out of the darkness, with almost no one in the cantina there is no point in trying to remain unnoticed. After a quick survey of the other occupants, he adresses the foreman :
"The possibilities for employment do seem to be pretty low", he says in a low quiet voice "with the empire intensifying their presence, the people who hire mercenaries will be staying quiet, waiting to see what happens. Why do you think they keep bringing troops in ? Is there a rebellious movement on Bandomeer ?"
Lo Kaat raised an eyebrow. "I don't think exploding droids or a full-scale assault on the garrison here is the way to avoid drawing attention to ourselves. Especially when we don't know when the reinforcements will stop arriving. Someone, somewhere, has got to be putting together some kind of resistance to this 'Empire' of the Chancellor's. As much as I'd like to keep Bandomeer out of Imperial hands, I don't think staging a last stand here will do us much good, or the Empire much bad."
With that, he turned to the Foreman. "Cal, I and my... friends... owe you a great debt, one that I hope we can one day repay. But I think it's in the best interests of the galaxy if we move on." Turning again to address a couple of the others in the room. "Erin, we need to go find the others. Hopefully, they won't show up here. Mar-Bat-Toda, you're welcome to come with us, or stay here, but one more set of hands can be an invaluable resource in our situation."
"I've had more than enough Imperial attention, that is for certain," Mar says, nodding at Lo. "But I didn't come here so we could run from the Empire either - well, for the most part," he adds quietly. "Perhaps this decision would be easier if we knew the purpose of the occupying force."
Quietly in Cerean, Mar says to Lo, "This Duro already has me worried. I do hope he doesn't do anything as brash as he seems to want. I find it is easy to stay out of your own trouble but hard to stay out of other peoples'."
Gwis Tava slinks back towards the shadows in order to be hidden from the door and windows "You seek to overthrow the Empire... Yet you will not start here, where the imperial presence is still small. If you take out the imperial presence, some people will follow you. They will rise up. They will organize a resistance movement. What do you want to do ? Find other what ? People will not rally to your cause if you are doing nothing. If you have a concrete plan against the empire, let's hear it. I'll come if I can kill Imperial officials and loot Imperial bodies. Or if you pay me."

In Duros, R0-GR quietly informs his owner of the Cerean's concern. "The Cerean fears that your methods are too uncompromising, master," he says. "The Cerean informs his compatriot that he fears he will be detected by the Imperial forces." Then, he nods.
The voice of the Dug comes outs of the darkness. "That's it. Ignore the Dug. Are they even sentient anyway ? It's a good thing they have those nice, civilized Grans to look after them."
"Y'all are welcome, don't mention it," replies Cal to Lo Kaat. "I wouldn't stand for no repayin'. I know it's hard to get by these days." He turns and, as the others converse, he returns to the window.
. . . .
"I'm hearin' a lot of big talk." Ychem Calbes' voice cuts through the air. "But y'all better get ready to back them words up."
The hum of engines has risen again--it sounds like they're practically overhead. Everyone gathers at the window just in time to see a pair of LAATs lifting off from behind a pile of brush.
A formation of troopers, clad in the white armor of the former Grand Army of the Republic, march out into view, led by one in olive green--a sergeant. Under the tromp of their feet, another sound can be heard: similar, but slower and heavier. The soldiers approach the building. There is a knock at the door.
"Open up! This property is being seized under Galactic Centralization Act 1, Section 3, passed one standard Galactic week ago by the Re--the Imperial Senate! You are required by law to exit the building and accompany us to the nearest military base for processing."
"The damned Senate ain't nothin' but a bunch of spaceheads what ain't got no idea how to run a real business!" Cal yells back through the closed door. "Now I ain't goin' nowhere! This is my place of work and my home, and it has been for fifty-two years, so get!" He jabs the door control panel, and the deadbolts slide into place. Moving to a corner, he grabs his hunting rifle from where he had set it earlier in the evening and twists a knob. It emits a high-pitched whine as it powers up.
Staying in the shadows, Gwis Tava unslings his blaster rifle and takes aim in the general direction of the door, while surveying the cantina for alternative exit routes.
And suddenly they had gone from discussing plans to... to identifying themselves as Jedi. Erin's mouth fell open as she seized up.
"What... how did they know we're here? We can't fight... we'll die... we need to find the others," she stammered helplessly as the room filled with confusion and commotion.

"Roger roger," R0-GR declares. And then, he becomes noisy.
"Attention organic representatives of the Imperial Senate! This property is protected under Land and Property Clause 14-A: Protection of Historical Sites! Please cite proper Authorization for Search and Seizure on Protected Historical Sites!"
Although somewhat practiced in the law, Mar is puzzled by the robot's diversion tactic but shrugs it off, keeping his mind on their situation.
"They probably don't know of the Jedi," Mar says quietly to the others. "Although centralizing a cantina does some a bit in excess," he addends, stroking his chin.
Then he turns to Cal saying with a calm urgency, "I'm not terribly familiar with tactics but odds are killing a few troopers will not force a retreat on their part. More than likely, it will earn you a retaliatory strike. Thus, if you wish to keep your life and possibly even your bar, our best bet at the moment is to retreat and regroup. What are the other exits to this building?"

"Uhh..." Angry discourse can just barely be heard through the barred door. Through the window, the sergeant can be seen gesturing off to his left.
A closed-domed, two-legged walker marches out from behind the piles of brush, its heavy footfalls resonating throughout the room--the second gunship's cargo. It parks itself conspicuously in view of the window. The sergeant appears to be conspiring with somebody over his commlink.
"Hold on! Confirmation of proper documentation in progress."
Meanwhile, Cal mumbles to Mar-Bat-Toda: "I ain't goin' nowhere, but if y'all want to get out, now's the time. There's doors up there and back there." He gestures to the two other doors. "They ain't gonna stop. A man's got to protect his livin' at some point. I got rights."
Whoop, never mind! With a Force Point, that beats their Will Defenses, so you've bought some time.
"I don't know when dying in vain became heroic, but so be it," Mar says as he follows Gwis to the north door. "Perhaps the martyrdom of the Jedi is contagious," he says, glancing at the two in his company.
"Do we have a plan, then? It looks like the Imperials are intent on searching this compound so unless there's somewhere around here to hide we should probably vacate," he says, peeking out the north door.

R0-GR offers a more seemly alternative.
"Master, if I may offer a suggestion.
I expect our best option at this juncture may be to blast 'em."
Still stealthing, Gwis Tava looks for a covered place from which he can fire at the Imperial while remaining hidden. If I engage them now, the battle will be started for good. Maximum confusion. I must get that commander.
Thinking carefully with what little time they had, Lo Kaat began giving directions. "There's a walker and three squads of Stormtroopers out there. I think we need to go out the back. Erin, guard them well. Cal, you're going to need to help them find a way out. They're certainly going to lock down the spaceports after this, so I don't think we'll be getting off-planet anytime soon, but we need to choose a better time to strike at them. Now, go, all of you. I'm going to be right behind you."
Lo Kaat then began looking for the biggest, heaviest, strongest object in the room that isn't bolted down.
"Down the road a couple clicks, there's a pair of freighters settin'. Little ones, meant for haulin' a cargo container. Should be all fueled up and ready to lift. Y'all take em." Cal swipes a pair of ignition cylinders from a hook on the wall and lays them on the table in front of Lo Kaat. "Probably get more use out of 'em than those boys out there will."
He points to the north door. "If you're gonna make a run for it, head out that way and circle back behind the buildin'. You'll pick up the road easy enough, lead you right to the ships. Be warned though, it's a major road, 'n with everything goin' on, I wouldn't be surprised to find more Imperials."
Meanwhile, outside, in the failing light, Gwis Tava hides behind a pile of brush, observing the Imperial forces. There are ten troopers he sees, counting the sergeant, backed up by the AT-XT.
The sergeant finishes with his commlink and approaches the door. His troopers follow at his heels--cutting off Gwis' line of fire.
"Attention! This building is not registered as an historical site under Clause 14-B! Open the door and submit to processing immediately!"
Thanatos, there's a table (Large) and some chairs (medium) in here, and some empty barrels in the entryway (medium).
Hermenegilde, they can't see you with that kind of Stealth check, so you're safe for now... but that officer has soft cover from his troops.
"One little problem: how are we supposed to get to the freighters? A 'couple clicks' is pretty far outside the shield generator. Are there some breath masks around here?" Mar seems cool as ever, but his voice is filled with urgency. He'd just been doing the books and analytics for the mining company but he was wishing now he'd paid more attention to where things were kept.
Lo Kaat grabs the ignition cylinders and hands them to Erin. "Go."
He then attempts to tap into the Force, moving the table to brace against the door (with the top of it facing towards the outside), further slowing down the Stormtroopers.
Erin takes the cylinders in one hand, unsnapping the holster holding her pistol with the other. "You can't stay here long," she says quietly before turning to the others. "We can't stay, we need to go."
With the aid of the Force (and a little raw muscle), Lo Kaat and the others maneuver the table in front of the door. As they take their positions, preparing to dart for safety, , the sergeant speaks up from outside.
"Alright, that's it. We are entering the building by force if you do not exit in ten seconds."
"Ten!..."
Table moved! It was more than six squares but who gives a shit, you pushed it the rest of the way or something
tell me at what point you're leaving the building / doing whatever please

"Attention! The door to this establishment is rigged with thermal detonators! They will explode if the integrity of the building comes under stress!"
The troopers scatter under the sudden barrage of blaster fire. Several of them fire ineffectively in the direction of Gwis Tava, but he evades their notice for the moment.
Mar looks out the southern door and says to his comrades, "I'll be heading for the freighters. I don't suppose any of you can pilot? That way we can come pick whoever's going to stay up here."
He pauses for a moment, looking out the doorway for his chance to run and tells the others his comm frequency, "Don't call me with specifics unless you're scrambled." With that, he makes it for the shed to the south, hoping he makes it to the foliage without being seen.

R0-GR wanders towards the southern exit himself, rambling off bureaucratic nonsense (that is not only mostly irrelevant, much of it is untrue) as it moves.
Clearly it was not entirely aware of what was happening around it, rambling as it was about protected properties and search and seizure laws.
"I can fly," says Erin, her hand stopping on the holster of her blaster pistol before moving under her jacket, pulling a simple silver cylinder.
The green blade snaps to life with a hiss, and with it Erin. "If we try and fight the walker, we're as good as dead. We need to get to that freighter. Lo Kaat and I can keep you covered as long as possible - they'll be gunning for us. Just give the mark."
Move - move next to Lo Kaat and crew, draw lightsaber vwoom vwoom ksht

Mar sighs as he sees Nuruk run noisily pat him and follows, running to the shed. He opens the first container he sees for a breath mask and looking for anything else of use. "Do you see the blasters out there?" He says to the Duro, irritated as he digs through the container.
Move: In to shed between first box and rings in corner.
The sergeant directs his troops to move toward where they had been fired upon from... but then the Jedi burst through the door.
"Jedi! Blast 'em! Get the Jedi!" The soldiers back away, firing at Lo Kaat. Simultaneously, the walker stomps forward, firing its cannons at Erin Teiros. The two Jedi, having cover behind the building and in the brush, are still hard pressed to deflect such a volume of fire. Forim Nuruk, behind Erin, swore as the bolts burst around him, charring branches.

Squad 1 moves, tries to find Gwis Tava... and fails with an 11.
The first attack on Lo Kaat is a hit for 11 damage, unless Lo Kaat can deflect it. Deflected!
The second attack is a miss because of cover, dealing 10 splash damage unless Lo Kaat can deflect it... no it doesn't! Cover = good.
The sergeant uses Inspire Confidence and Deployment Tactics, granting the squads and the walker +1 to attacks until the end of the encounter and +1 reflex til the end of next turn
Lo Kaat allows the Force to flow through him, feeling each shot as they raced towards him, placing his lightsaber right where it needed to be in order to protect him.
