Facebook Disabled my account (God damn it)

This isn't one of those OMG I lost my second life type of deals; I was barred from Facebook because I think I added too many people at one time (which is ridiculous). The real issue is that I am currently trying to purchase a macbook pro, DSLR and a monopod through facebook. Since I didn't think this stuff actually happens, I didn't jot down the information from my inbox - and for the life of me - cannot find the sellers contact information on a new account.

I have contacted disabled@facebook.com & Info@facebook.com but it seems that all I get are these stupid automated replies. Does anyone have experience on getting their accounts back ?

I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but I've never heard of anyone getting an account restored once it's been disabled on a harassment flag (which is what the "too many friends too soon" thing is). I'd move on to plan B. Sorry. :(

I looked over the facebook terms & agreements and do not understand the too many friends too soon thing, can you please explain to me the harassment flag deal ?

It's an anti-spam measure, and you have no meaningful appeal process. A quick look at the Get Satisfaction page will probably give you a rough idea of what you're up against. Out of 144 people dealing with closed accounts, it looks like 3 people have reported success (all after weeks of struggles).

Facebook is notoriously horrible about this stuff.

i'm not sure but doing business with someone through facebook MIGHT be against their ToS. I am probably wrong, but if you're trying to get your account back, you might want to leave that part out while nagging them.

The Facebook Marketplace would imply that it's not

If you have any idea what might have caused your account to be disabled, then you're probably out of luck, because you do know what might have happened. I'm assuming this is done because they think you're a spammer. If you pester them with emails you just may get a response. If ANYONE reported you for this then you're done. Permanently.

I think we need more details please.

For the record, I had mine disabled about a year ago, only I was banned for genuinely no reason whatsoever. Got the same automatic message, sent maybe three emails out to different addresses on the facebook support page and such and after two or three days I got a response from a woman who apologized and said my account would be instantly restored. Kind of annoying but I brushed it off.

Well, you can grab an address and phone number from their whois record and this site. I'm sure others have tried the same, but written letters, especially to higher ups, always seem to yield better results than emails. No idea who you'd address it to though. Perhaps you could get into contact with some of the dudes form the Get Satisfaction page and get some more details.

    Counter anecdote:

I had a friend whose goal was to friend everyone he could, and had nearly 3,000 friends. Facebook disabled his account for having too many friends. He got it reopened a few months later.

I didn't even know of such a thing! Guess I was right about being probably wrong. /facepalm

-Went through marketplace to purchase equipment for next semester
-Started adding friends from South Africa
-While requesting 1 friend account froze and then I refreshed, said I was disabled when I tried signing in

I don't really want to go back to Facebook for socializing, I just really need that used gear for school.

How many friends did you add if I may ask?

Also, why can't you just create a new account under that network and search for it again?

The most hilarious thing is that Facebook even banned Finland's employment minister from Facebook for having too many contacts. She didn't have her account restored either.

Ok, I messaged him, and here's what he said:
I sent an appeal to every Facebook email address I could find. I can't remember them all. login@facebook.com, appeals@facebook.com, etc. And I just said that I hadn't been warned or anything that I was adding people too fast, and that if they give me my account back it won't happen again and all that bullshit. And a few days later it was back. That's happened twice.

His account is unfrozen right now and he's got a little over 4,000 friends.

Hey, get him to add me.

Seriously though, good luck with it. I'd be...wary of the south Africans though. Unless you live in South Africa.
