Free game to make my graphics card sing

I just got a new laptop with high specs, mostly for graphical programming, CAD, etc., but I'm wondering what kind of games this thing can run. Can anyone recommend some completely free games with great graphics that'll push this rig? Of course if it actually has good gameplay, that'll be a plus.

Also no game that will install sketchy software on my new computer (I've installed some games on old computers in the past that were really hard to get rid of).

It was the first thing I thought about too.

I guess you can go download some game demos, some games I recall having demos:

GRID
Tom Clancy's HAWX
Empire Total War
FEAR 2

Burnout Paradise has a great demo and it looks fantastic.

X3: Terran Conflict will make your PC its bitch, and there's a nice benchmark program that should stress things a bit. Also looks very pretty, and has great music.

You could always try the Crysis demo.

Savage 2 looks nice and is fairly free.
WarSow has dirty/flashy cell shaded style graphics and looks pretty neat and TRONish.

I downloaded that thing and it is amazing. It ran smoothly, but the underwater stuff at the end was rather choppy.

I've always loved these short demos. I think you could gain quite an interest in simple "games" which involve exploring things like these.
