The Guiding Principles and New Rules document is now in effect.
Obvious question: Yes, it will be used off-road. Canadian winter + Unplowed roads + Cottage in the ass-end of nowhere. You sure as hell can't take your Camry there unless you plan on leaving it until the spring thaw.
It's past the early years of shitty ball joints in the front suspension, but I haven't been able to find jack shit about the reliability of the transmission, since pretty much everyone bought the autobox version.
WTB your thoughts, opinions, etc.
Looking for a DX:HR OnLive code for my kid brother.
Can trade TF2 items or whatever else you're interested in. PM me.

The only thing with the Liberty is that it's low to the ground compared to the Wrangler, so off road and going over dead deer and rocks might be a problem. If anything it would just ding up the front.
2005 was when Chrysler really started to borrow from Daimler, so the transmission might be good (I don't know if 2005 was the year they did lifetime powertrain or not).
According to Edmunds.com its a pretty good deal - they say from a dealer it'd be about $12,407 US, and from a private party $11,111 US. As for reliability they give it a 5/5. You can read some consumer reviews here too. Not sure if you already checked out their site but I find it's pretty good for information about pretty much any vehicle.
I don't know if the "lifetime powertrain" warranties ever hit Canada - and since I'm buying used they'll probably want me to be able to produce the original sales receipt and every service record ever since. And never change my oil myself, etc etc ... so that's not a huge concern to me.
Far as the ride height I'm not going to be doing any serious rockhopping with it, just needs enough to safely traverse shitty roads. Pretty sure it's got skidplates, but if not I can drop some of those underneath to at least minimize any Critical Hits to the oilpan.
Good to know that Edmunds thinks it's a good deal ... I'll obviously be taking it for a beating around town and a thorough inspection before I pull out the checkbook.
