all right, so this thing

razr2-v8-hands-on-mobile-burn-28052007.jpg

is a horrible piece of crap. i have gone through three replacements and five phone failures, and i am facing the fifth of them now. i am sick of dealing with the things and i want to invest in a phone that will, if nothing else, last a while. i also need an mp3 player, and i know a lot of you roll with these

apple-iphone.jpg

do they play nice with PCs? are they worth every penny?

if you resent the iphone, what do you roll with? what are the alternatives? longevity is key.

    I love my iPhone

but I can see why some dudes don't like them

if you want your phone to be a great phone then the iPhone is probably not for you

but I like it because it carries all my music and audiobooks and email and internet and a few games and videos all in one little sexy thing

    The iPhone is pretty rad.

None of my old phones needed that, and I never got close to filling my ipods with that much before I upgraded to the iphone

I love it so much. Totally dependent on it

everyone I know that has an iPhone loves it, but I'm stuck with a ghetto Blackberry. Don't get a Blackberry if you want to be listening to music, but these things seem built pretty solid compared to other phones.

While I do have an iPhone, I also have a separate iPod for music-in-the-car purposes.

My iPhone has about 800 or so tracks on it. My actual iPod has close to 18 gigs.

If I could suggest one iPhone game, it would be Zen Bound. Super fun game that makes perfect use of the touch-screen interface

And every time I push it Lucky Cynic is all :3

Some people like to have all of their music in one spot. Like me. I bought a 16GB card to use in my DSi so I wouldn't have to buy a new mp3 player. My last one was only 6GB and I hated having to delete stuff in order to fit new stuff on it.

someday I will get a phone that I can also use as like an organizational tool of some type

all of my phones so far have been very straightforward "it makes calls" kinds of phones, which has been fine until recently.

but now it seems like I really could find uses for a phone that I could put notes on, use to keep track of upcoming deadlines, and so on

    those people are stupid

it takes five minutes to change the music on your iPod and you'd happily pay an extra few hundred bucks for storage for music you probably never even listen to

    My Hue.

    Samsung_Hue_drkblue.jpg

Is over a year old and good as new. It's easily the most indestructible phone I've ever owned with an outer display. I'll give it another year or so, then probably upgrade to the latest generation of the Hue. I was seriously considering a RAZR, but those thing are flimsy pieces of shit. I've seen people drop them once and they never work again.

My favorite was my old Nextel Motorola i530.
    B000177F7S.01._SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

Fuck dropping, I've thrown that thing. It never broke. I loved that phone.

I have an LG AX260. Also known as the Scoop or the Rumor.

Tons of people had one too once they got cheaper but everyone seems to hate them now. Apparently they break really easily. Everyone I know that used to have one had to replace it. However, mine has experienced zero problems since I got it a year ago. I am quite satisfied with it.

My iPhone has a huge case on it because I tend to drop it a lot. I am honestly amazed that it still works perfectly after all this time.

The last time I had it and my keys in one hand, and they started to fall. I instinctively grabbed for the keys

Nothing would have happened if those had fallen. Dammit

it's not me defending the iPhone really, if they came out with a 30 gig iPhone I'd call that dumb too

I do it with people who need to buy another terrabyte external drive every year and regular iPods are up to what 80 gig now?

Most people listen to their core group of records and have other records in their collection they've listened to a handful of times, put it on when the mood strikes or the situation calls for it.

When handheld storage makes such a difference in price, it makes no sense to me that someone would pay so much more for storage they've convinced themselves they need because they can't go to the store without Billy Joel's entire discography when the only song they've actually listened to is Piano Man.

Except most people carry an artist's entire discography because they like to listen to ALL of it. I have every studio album from all of my favorite artists and I listen to it all. If you could somehow change out the music you wanted from anywhere then you would have a point. If I suddenly decide I want to listen to a certain band and find out I can't because it isn't on my mp3 player then I am going to be a bit bummed. It is nice to have everything there when you need it and some people don't mind spending a bit of money for a luxury.

I have an 80 gig iPod. No real reason for it, but it was only slightly more expensive than the 40. Like really slightly.

It's mostly filled up with digital movies I'll never watch, just because I can. I don't buy these damn things, they just give them out like candy whenever you buy DVDs/Blu-rays.

when you say in-ear, do you mean buds like the standard ipod ones?

I had the same problem - I used these for a long time which are very comfy and light and you can easily wear them all day and they sound pretty great for the price

then I got a pair of these for secret satans last year, and I'll never look back. Sound great, I wear them all day at work and they never hurt.
