Super surreal old anime movie with cats [Solved/Lock]

H/A, help me remember this movie I saw when I was just a wee one.
These are all fuzzy recollections, so I could be mistaken about details but:
The two main characters are cats, girl and a boy
The boy works at a printing press/newspaper place
There is a scene where some characters are catching, I think...herons or pelicans and turning them into candy.
There is a scene with an archaeological dig inside a super massive skeleton of ...something
A large portion of the movie takes place on a train, which passes through weird places like past these two huge towers with a tiny light on top, and at one point underwater past the sinking of the titanic. That's really all I remember, but I know you're good for it, H/A!
